One of the few "missteps" - or really more of a missed opportunity - I find in One Piece is that I dont care about the commanders of the Grand Fleet.

Like, Bartolomeo is great and we relate to him because we are all also huge simps. Hajrudin is cool cause he connects to Elbaf and therefore Usopp's storyline. Sai is fine, cause he and his granfather actually get some development this arc.

But the rest? Especially Ideo and Orlumbus? Meh. I like the Tontas and I think Cavendish is interesting, but there's no emotional connection to them.

Imagine if instead of Orlumbus and Ideo we got one or two crews from the past arcs show up? That would add so much emotional stakes to the arc and to the payoff at the end! (The past pirates who are part of the arc, Law and Bellemy, dont really join the fleet so they dont really count.)

So, in an alternate world, who do I think should have joined?

Phoenix Pirates - Ice Hunter (filler)

This would require a lot more than just an alternate Dressrossa, since this crew is anime only. But man! Having them there would have been such a perfect payoff for their storyline. Captain Puzzle wanting the Flame Flame fruit would fit perfectly with the phoenix aesthetic (since Marco has the acual Zoan fruit). Unlike most other pirates the Strawhats run into, they arent foes and there feels like a real mutual respect between the crews. They even part saying "See you in the New World!" Meeting them again here would have been so rad, and having them join the Grand Fleet would have been awesome since the Strawhats help them recapture their dream. (Go watch Ice Hunter if you havent. Its a good filler.)

Gin - Baratia

This is the best one. Yah, the implication is Gin died from the poison, but imagine the emotional payoff if he survives, continues pursuing the One Piece and ends up in Dressrossa! He doesnt even have to be a captain. He could have been a second in command like he was with Krieg. Or maybe he could be an independent who ends up the repressentitive instead od Ideo. Gin is such a great character from the East Blue and its sad Oda doesnt seem to have plans to bring him back even tho the door was left open for his return.

Others I dont have specifics for, but Im certain Oda could find some awesome cameos and characters to bring back if had decided to. Like how the filler brought back the Kung Fu Dugong for the Sea Animal Pirates!

So yah, any crew or pirates you think wouldve been cool to have in Dressrossa?
