* Obi-Wan Kenobi saving young Luke from Tusken Raiders as he will years later in Episode IV and introducing himself as “Ben”.
Obi-Wan pleads with Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton) to allow Luke to begin his Jedi training only for Owen to decline this, fearing that Luke will be destroyed by following Obi-Wan Kenobi on “some damned fool idealistic crusade” and preferring to “not get involved” in the madness that destroyed Anakin, his mother and Padmé.
Luke crashing his T-16 Skyhopper and Obi-Wan secretly cutting a deal with the Jawas to have it fixed for Luke as a gift, noting the similarities of extracurricular activities between young Luke and a young Anakin. Due to his interference, Lars angrily curses Obi-Wan, blaming him for Anakin’s “death” and not wanting to see Luke follow him. He forbids Obi-Wan Kenobi from contacting Luke ever again.
Young Luke asking his uncle and aunt questions about his father at the dinner table only for Owen to dodge these questions by telling Luke that his father was a “navigator on a spice freighter” and never fought in the Clone Wars. He also tells Luke that “Ben” Kenobi is an “old hermit” looking for friends and that shouldn’t be bothered or listened to.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Owen Lars exchange one final look before Owen closes the door. Obi-Wan Kenobi turns to walk back to his hut but stops to look at the dual sunset of Tatooine with a troubled, yet “hopeful” and knowing smile. He rides off into the sunset as the screen closes out.
