Obi-Wan pleads with Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton) to allow Luke to begin his Jedi training only for Owen to decline this, fearing that Luke will be destroyed by following Obi-Wan Kenobi on “some damned fool idealistic crusade” and preferring to “not get involved” in the madness that destroyed Anakin, his mother and Padmé.
Luke crashing his T-16 Skyhopper and Obi-Wan secretly cutting a deal with the Jawas to have it fixed for Luke as a gift, noting the similarities of extracurricular activities between young Luke and a young Anakin. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Owen Lars exchange one final look before Owen closes the door. Obi-Wan Kenobi turns to walk back to his hut but stops to look at the dual sunset of Tatooine with a troubled, yet “hopeful” and knowing smile. He rides off into the sunset as the screen closes out.
