i heard a dark prediction rising in my own body—
you’ve been dismissed all your life. you’ve been called a fake, a fraud. it’d be easy to let them silence you, but you won’t. the universe calls your name and lets you peer into its plans. it’s the greatest gift you’ve ever received, the greatest burden, too. you’re best at foretelling the tragedies, the deaths. not all of them come true, after all, the future is forever changing, its light ephemeral and delicate, the potential outcomes of any event infinite. then the first war comes and your visions manifest more often than ever, but you don’t save anyone and the realisation hardens you. there is a reason the universe has trusted you, and you can’t shake the feeling that you disappointed it.
the end is near and you have seen it, its ugliness seared into the back of your eyelids. it’s different than all the other times you saw the future, this time the vision had a sense of finality to it and in the middle of it was a screaming figure with their head on fire, directing the evil around them. while you still can’t decipher all of it – divination is an intricate art – it clearly means the world is heading towards its end. it’s your responsibility to let the people know, to urge them to move the world onto different tracks. now go and deliver your message.
connections
↳ Lily Evans – you understand why she might be blaming you for the death of her son. in a sense, you saw it and did nothing, said nothing to prevent it, only coming forward when the vision had already manifested. you suspect she might be on the lookout for a reason to retaliate against you because of your past silence, and your current preaching certainly does not help to placate her. but as long as your lips can move, you will apologise for your mistakes, then go on to do your duty.
↳ Mary MacDonald – you have yet to decode all the elements of your vision and while you’re still not sure who the main figure stands for, you get a bad feeling whenever you’re around Mary. there is something unforgiving and tumultuous about her that makes you more and more uneasy after each encounter. until your interpretation of your vision clarifies, you will assume that she is the terrifying figure in the midst of chaos and you will do anything it takes to thwart her plans.
↳ Minerva McGonagall – in the brief time when the two of you were colleagues, you merely tolerated each other. she has never approved of your gift and in the past you would not press the issue, though neither were you happy with her voicing her dislike for you and your teachings so openly. now, however, is not the time for petty grudges. as the headmaster, she is still held in high-esteem and you hope that convincing her to believe in you will lend credibility to your words.
