Hello! This piece specifically was inspired the hatching method in old artwork like these. I use inspired very loosely because the old artwork is much cleaner and strategic in execution 🤣

While I’m not fully qualified, my piece was just done by separating elements of the painting (eg. individual muscles) into rough chunks then following the curvature of each chunk with my hatching.

I also talked a bit on Instagram about overly defining/exaggerating the musculature being a noticeable trend in the kind of art I was referencing, and how it tends to look almost swollen or sickly. A bit of mythological/religious motif doesn’t hurt either if you’re really going for that old European art vibe. Hope this helped somewhat! ☺️

Can you make a reference sheet for bodies? For EX: Anatomy wise. I like how you draw bodies, and the head placement as well

I’m glad you like them! The body proportions I draw aren’t stylized & abide by real life proportions so I think you’d be much better off consulting photo references. If nothing else, I do tend to make legs a little longer.
