The most embarrassing thing!
My dad found out about Hamlet and I today, all thanks to Laertes. It all started this morning when Laertes was getting ready to go to France on another trip, which is totally unfair. Anyways, he pulled out these love letters Hamlet gave to me before he left for Germany last summer! Laertes then ranted to me about how Hamlet only wants one thing, blah blah blah. He shouldn't lecture me about sex stuff, especially considering what he gets up to on his study trips. Party trips if you ask me! But no one ever does, so I just laughed at him. It would have been fine if dad hadn't then come over and heard Laertes mention Hamlet. Then I had to listen to a full rant about how I wasn't good enough for Hamlet because he was a prince and that there is no reason he would like me. Even though i was hurt, i told him i would break it off with Hamlet, just to shut him up to be honest.
The point of a sleepover is to not sleep!

Friendship over marriage
His proposal came through a relative. He seemed to be a good catch - well educated, stable career & good looking. After much consideration my parents decided to meet him. He was closely examined by narrowed eyes and had to go through a rigorous Q&A round which would decide if he would make a suitable match for me.
He must have performed well cause my dad gave me his phone number and asked me to speak to him BUT not to meet him. How could I not? I sneaked out and meet him not just once but couple times. We were getting to know each other but suddenly one day he expressed it was difficult to keep up with my dad's interference and inquisitiveness.
He called it off.
It had been only a month so I was fine, not like it was love lost. After a few days he made a strange request and asked if we could be friends? Sure...why not?! I'm quite easy going so I didn't have a problem being friends with him. We started speaking again but this time with a different perspective. Our friendship blossomed. He became my best friend. I still continued to sneak out and meet him for movies, coffee, ice cream and then, one day while we were busy licking off ice cream from our cones, he muttered “I wanna marry you.” What?! That wasn't even a proposal. Go ask my daddy, he'll give you an answer. He immediately called my daddy and said
“Sir, I would like to meet you.”
I was stunned by his new found bravery to face my dad again and ask him for my hand in marriage. After a lot of convincing and reassurance that he will not go back on his word, we said Yes. Six months later we got married. It's been 5 years and it's been amazing. We fight a lot but he always makes up to me and apologizes irrespective of whose fault it may be. He never fails to amaze me. I fall in love with him everyday. We have a two year old kid and he's the best thing that could happen to us. It's an amazing feeling being a parent. Don't we all feel nervous and unsure meeting and bonding with a new family?
After all Marriage is not just a union of two people but two families.
