Shal hated how familiar this process had become. Getting knocked out, waking up in a strange place. Still groggy from the anasthetics, yet already aware that the Bane of eys existence was present once again. Another thing to hate: Having the Koi's smell burned into eys memory.
Of course they couldn't keep them apart for too long. Think of the entertainment value! Maybe if the Marten willed emself back to sleep ey would wake up back at the beach.
Stubbornly refusing to open eys eyes, ey listened for any sound in the room they were at. For a sign the other was awake already. Or there were more people. Or a hint of what was to come. There was something Shal couldn't quite make out. Something beyond the walls that was more felt than heard, with a strange rhythm to it.
*beeeep* *bip* *bip*
The sound coming from the other's Wristband jerked Shal's attention back into the room. And also eys entire head towards the noises direction, which made pretending to be asleep slightly more awkward. So giving up on that, the Marten took a moment to stretch eys entire body. Slowly, perfomatively and with and openly frustrated groan yet also very satisfying cracking of joints. One last sigh and it was finally time to see what the hell this game might be about.
They were in a windowless cellroom, closed off completly by a metal doubledoor on one end. Not great.
Shal's tail twitched nervously, already getting anxious at the thought of being stuck inside for however long this game would be. At least the musicians dorm had interior decorations! Here the only things were the....stone? metal?....unclear but oddly warm and comfortable "beds" they had woken up on. Also a mural on the wall saying "District 1", whatever that meant.
At the wall opposite the doors was a table, filled with what smelled of food. Between that and the Marten, with the back to em, stood the Koi, wearing the same kind of athletics friendly uniform Shal had been put in. Including a Jacket, that had "District 1" embroidered on it's back.
Still refusing to get up, Shal watched xym fiddle around some more with xyms Wristband before growling a fake accusatory: "Already tying to cheat?"
Captain didn't answer. Not that ey had expected one, it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but not even getting a some acknowledgement that ey was heard seemed...off. In a way that made the Marten's Neckhair bristle.
Shal hated how familiar all this had become. That ey could tell that the Koi's already naturally tense movements had somehow been ratcheted even tighter. No, this wasn't about cheating or even some idle attempt to fuck with eys mind to start off the coming game.
