Reminiscence || Kin and Shikamaru

It wasn't often that Shikamaru doubted himself. Close to never actually. He was probably his biggest fan, with a self esteem so unblinking it was almost a fault. But the circumstances given forced him to reconsider.

When he saw a glimpse of her through the crowd, he thought she looked familiar. When she turned around, he was positive he'd seen her somewhere before, and when she passed him, seemingly uninterested and without acknowledging him, a thousand connections and electrical impulses ran through his brain and he figured it out. Her name was Kin, she was a sound nin, and he'd recognized her because he did see her before. It was because of the Chunnin Exams that he knew her. But as the realization dimmed with the seconds past, it hit him that something wasn't right. She was associated with the Sound Village, and so, inevitably, with Orochimaru as well. And he recalled a fatal (or I guess not) injury she suffered as well. So how come she was carelessly walking away from him? Puzzling, very puzzling. So carefully, very carefully, he called for her, just to make sure.

Alright guys, I'll have starters up and ready for you tomorrow, cause it's late now and I don't think tomorrow will be a snow day. It would be a blessing if that actually happened, but I don't have that much luck.
