Coup de chance, 2023
s.s. france at new york art postcard by albert sébille, ca. 1910s
Coup de Chance is Woody Allen's latest film, and one of his best in recent years, reminding some of his masterful Match Point but also Crimes and Misdemeanours in that this isn't a pure comedy but has a darker criminal aspect at its centre. Its theme, though, is about luck and what an important part it plays in people's lives. Allen has always been a great writer. And we're lucky that in his late 80s, he's still putting out such interesting films, year after year, even though some in Hollywood are determined to "cancel" him out of existence. Like classic Greek dramatists and Shakespeare, Allen is a master in telling simple tales about humanity and how fragile our existence is, teaching its heroes lessons with all the sufferings he puts them through, reversing their fates and having a laugh at their ignorance. Coup de Chance has all that, plus romantic park walks in Paris, an ironic look at the French bourgeoisie and jazz music playing throughout. All are delivered in French by an excellent cast and photographed in crisp and colourful digital cinematography by the great Vittorio Storaro. What more could you ask but for the film to be released worldwide soon!

Attack from Mars! Stroke of Luck logic for determining Strobe Multiball or Video Mode. There’s additional logic nested inside of the Regular Mystery Award (such as for starting an Attack Wave) which isn’t included here.
~ Beeeeeeee ~
This photo was a stroke of luck that I shot on my balcony in summer 2018. I am always happy when a little bee visits me. Say hello to the little bee!
i am alive
and i am 20
It’s been a weird old week... I had a few drunken meltdowns, one on TUESDAY(?!) a school (work) night! - a bunch of us went out for a leaving do (two students that were based in our department finished their placement). We went to ghetto golf, which I love. I nearly didn’t make it out, couldn’t get myself going. Got there late and got drunk. Not as drunk as some, but still, drunk nonetheless. Came back, got upset and cried myself to sleep in Doms arms at past midnight. The second time was Friday night. Again I was out with a small group from work, this time it was just a general dress-down-Friday-after-payday type affair. I got drunk and angry and cried etc. Bit of a mess. So a few late nights, still trying to recover from Amsterdam - plus; the deadline for my application was Friday, I was set to have an exam on Saturday and it was all a bit much. Couldn’t do everything and be my normal, awake, sociable self...
Luckily, I got the app in on Friday by the skin of my teeth and a little bending of the deadline - it was successful, my exam was postponed to next Saturday AND I have an interview for the job tomorrow (Monday)! Still a lot to juggle. I am by no means prepared.. for any of it, but you just have to crack on and do your best, don’tcha.
