hey kara! love your fics!! i recently got sucked back into tumblr bc of supercorp fics so i'm playing a lot of catch up. i'm rewatching TLOK & seeing your asks about lena potentially becoming evil (she won't) only makes me think of how similar lena & asami are. any one of their tragic backstories could've been their super villain origin story moment but here they are, defying expectations again and again because they're g o o d people whose gfs believe in them. also congrats on your engaygment!!

Hey! Thanks so much, both for the fics compliment and the congrats. (: I’ve actually seen that comparison made a handful of times and ye,s it makes absolute sense. They’re both genius badasses with cray families overcoming the odds. Plus they both have amazing green eyes and fabulous black hair.

It is truly the best fight of the entire series. I love the callback to the Aang/Ozai battle in terms of the the aesthetic, but there’s something way more personal about Korra/Zaheer. They had a connection that was lacking in Aang/Ozai. The Red Lotus tried to kidnap Korra as a young girl in order to mold her into the head of their revolution. On top of that, we have Korra and Zaheer sitting down and having a conversation about the merits of anarchy. Oh, but what really made it personal was the fact Korra thought Zaheer killed her father. I honestly think that was a tipping point in her rage. It wasn’t just self-defense.

The emotional poignancy of the LoK Book 3 finale hit notes that Aang/Ozai never could (and even Zuko/Azula can’t touch), because Korra showed not just what she was capable of physically but what she was capable of emotionally. That fight, at least from her side, was so fucking raw.

Her primary motive was to save the airbenders. She sacrificed herself so that she could help revive a once-thought dead race.

She’s the greatest Avatar ever, and anyone who wants to try and say otherwise can fight me.

It's closer to 83,000 words currently, and will likely conclude at around 90,000 words. But yes, it's certainly light reading. :P
