E RATING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KEEP THE WARNING IN MIND | UNFINISHED
Ohhh 👀 anything behind the thought process for Sunlight, Primrose or Tsuyu?!
Those fics grabbed me by the throat and have me in a chokehold specially how did you decide to have Goro meet/befriend/start relating with Jun (and Tatsuya)!
That combination is sooo good and had me going " OP YOUR MIND *chefs kisses*" for months
But the whole cult thing/Tatsuya lost in his life going in Tsuyu and Jun changin between this side and the other side Jun in Primsore are interesting too!
Whichever you pick is fine ❤
Aw!!! I'm so glad they grabbed you by the throat, hahaha!!!! That's such a compliment omg!!! Thank you!!!!
So, since I'm here, why not talk about the three of them?
For Sunlight, oh man, now that's a fic that takes a lot of research. The updates are slow, between other reasons, because of that! It takes a while to check who's who, how they talk, how they act, etc, and then revising to make sure I'm as in character as I can be, keeping in mind the progression of years between canon and sunlight's canon. I have a whole ass lore bible, actually!!
As for the Jun and Goro relation... My decision was influenced by many things at the same time, but one of them was the contrast between the way the narrative of both games portrays what is, essentially, the foil to the protagonist. The other was, with the removal of Akira as Jun's child that is usual in these crossovers, and making Jun be childfree, how would he interact with younger persona users? He doesn't have a particular soft spot for any of them. He doesn't care as a father, so how does he care? I decided to make every character in sunlight, essentially, the protagonist to their own narratives. Everyone has a life outside of what's happening, has personal trauma, relationships, and stuff that doesn't concern Goro or Akira.
Jun and Goro are protagonists of their own narratives, foils to protagonists of their canon narratives, and both are secondary characters in the other's story in sunlight. So, their conflict and relationship reflects that!
As for Tatsuya and Goro, we'll see more of Tatsuya and the thing he's desperately nervous about eventually!
As for Tsuyu, I was like, shakes head in disappointment "how come there's no mafia au in here???" And decided to make my own, keeping the aspect of the cult that is in canon material. It's a fic that deals with a lot of Tatsuya's frustration and sense of defeat at the realization he's basically stuck in the cycle of Karma and family expectations, which he carries everywhere. Water and rain in particular have a very important role in the fic, as they frame the plot, and are important enough for the fic to be named after them. I'm excited for the readers to meet this version of Jun, someone who doesn't have a persona or nyarlthothep, but is still entangled in an absolute mess. The fic also features the setting as a character, not personified, no, but it's is important enough for Tatsuya to get lost and swallowed in all the mess. A note about the actual writing production is that I look a lot at Kabuki theatre as an inspiration, and listen to a shit ton of city pop while writing. Also, fun fact: the restaurant Lisa and Tatsuya went to, is an actual restaurant in Yokohama! Yokohama being the city Sumaru is inspired by.
And last but not least, Primrose. Oh, primrose. I think out of these three, this one is the fluffiest. It's a fic where I made them young adults, but right here, right now, which means that they went through everything in the digital age, something that will become a little more prominent as the fic keeps going. (Also, it was an excuse for them to text each other mushy things.) It's an exploration of the idea of this side and the other side as not so much two completely separate places, but as layers of the same universe. Layers that communicate with each other sometimes, and can disrupt a whole play! It uses a lot of play imagery, scenography and stuff like that to drive that point forward. And since I've locked it down to Jun's perspective, there's a lot of stuff going on in the other characters' heads that is only hinted at, but if you read closely, you'll know! It's a fic about lies and theatre, it's about what they lost and what they'll find, and it's a fic about truth. A funny thing about the process of writing it is that I usually write the dialogue first, then go back and think about everything happening around said dialogue. It's rewritten around three times before posting, usually. When I imagine what's going on, I usually imagine it drawn and painted traditionally, like, with ink.
Back after so long.
