If there was one thing that Daphne knew for a fact would always be true, no matter what happened in her life, it was that Padstow was always going to be the same. Small as fuck, and always boring. The Florence demonstrated this very clearly - No, she hadn’t spent a lot of time there as a teenager, or anything, but it had the classic small town feeling that she’d spent so long trying to get away from. And, as if to really drive home the point that this town was never going to change, she looked up from her beer to see - Was that who she thought it was?
“You’re still around?” She said, with a slight laugh and a raise of her eyebrows. There was no reason for her to be judging any of her old classmates for sticking around, not considering her current situation, but she really couldn’t help it.
