i want to do a COVID-era stuckate update (they’ve been going to college in the UK!!) but i have come across the stupidest problem ever:

like obviously they’re doing the normal life thing under assumed identities. and they wouldn’t want to BLATANTLY reveal those, so when they post on social media (it’s mostly Steve on insta, and bucky on video platforms) they use fake names. and they ABSOLUTELY use the names of famous should-be-ot3s only I don’t know WHICH ONE.

In case anyone was wondering, the Riptide-universe explanation for John Walker having the shield, it's because Steve is no longer active duty and the current Cap (Sam) is on a babymoon with his spouse(s?) before going on paternity leave and Eli refuses to leave his students in the middle of a semester

so I think Bucky would really hate wearing a face mask, not because he doesn’t think he should--he is VERY MUCH like, even though I have a superhuman immune system, I should wear a mask to set a good example, he remembers all the millions of times Steve got sick before the serum when a paper bag was more effective than Steve’s immune system, but having something covering his mouth like that reminds him of when he was just the Asset, just the Winter Soldier with no voice and no choice so Kate and Steve spend an excessive amount of time picking out cool fabric and then making different kinds of masks for themselves and Bucky and Steve paints sayings on some of Bucky’s masks so even though his mouth is covered he’s still got a voice, stuff like “vaccinate your fucking kids” and “reagan was a dick” “i’m here i’m queer and i love captain america” and stuff like that 

kate and steve do everything they can to make sure bucky never feels trapped by his masks. he doesn’t go out much because of it but they still try to reduce the trauma of it as much as possible for when he does
