When someone makes a judgement in regards to an aspect of you, remember they’re basing it off of the perspective they get to have of you. Don’t let a simple comment shift your identity, no one knows you outside of the specific context you’re surrounded by.
In terms of your academics, teachers, the college admissions people, sometimes even classmates, only view you within a certain context and in a very limited manner. Don’t let a rejection mean more than it does, they don’t see you as you, they see a very tiny piece of the beautiful puzzle that makes up your existence.
