Bout to go get paid to sit in a meeting where I’m not allowed to partake in any-most of the discussion because I don’t have the necessary degree(s). I love academia.

Important Announcement Regarding Student Representative to the Board
"At their meeting on September 18, 2013, the Board of Trustees approved the creation of the position of a Student Representative to the Board of Trustees. The Board established certain criteria to be met for a student to be selected for this role and provided that the Joint Student Council (JSC) was to develop a process whereby three eligible candidates would be selected from the student body to interview with the Committee on Trustees for the Student Representative position.
It has now come to the Board’s attention that the process implemented by the JSC to select candidates for the Student Representative position only resulted in two candidates even running for the position, and that the Joint Student Council has since voted only to submit to the Committee on Trustees the one candidate with the highest number of votes.
Unfortunately, the process and parameters put into place by the Joint Student Council are not in concert with the criteria established by the Board of Trustees for the Student Representative position. Further, the decision by the JSC to submit only a single candidate to the Committee on Trustees is a clear attempt to circumvent those requirements and as such, the Board will not consider a candidate resulting from this process.
The Board remains committed to appointing a student representative to the Board; however, given the failure of the current election process to satisfy the relevant criteria, such an appointment will no longer be possible for the December meeting. The Board is hopeful that the JSC will reevaluate its process, reengage the student body, and initiate a new election process that meets the requirements established by the Board. It should be possible to complete such a process in time to allow the trustees to interview and confirm a Student Representative to assume the position beginning with the March 2014 meeting.
The Office of Student Affairs will continue to work with the Joint Student Council to garner broader student interest in the Student Representative position and to develop a process that will result in three candidates being presented to the Board.

Text of the email sent from the Office of Student Affairs to the Cooper Community where the Board of Trustees refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of the election process the Joint Student Council and revoking the Student Representative's position on the Board at the December meeting. The Board of Trustees reacted prematurely to information they received from a source that was not Joint Student Council. Further, the information they received was false. This blatant betrayal of confidence in the student body is indicative of the amount of miscommunication that occurs daily between the many constituencies of Cooper and the Board. It is also indicative of the Board's pervasive wish to silence voices other than their own and undermine the agency of the larger Cooper community
I'm going to dye my hair blonde again soon, though a bit different than before. But how will that go?
The whole freaking nurse line in my school recognize me by my hair. That's how they know who to complain to. Ahh, the life of the pink girl.
I got student rep with a girl called Nicole :-) happy Judith xx
Do you know what exactly a student rep is responsible for?
Keeping up to date with what’s going on in class, informing the class of important announcements (you might have to speak in front of class occasionally for this), acting as a communication channel between students and professor - so a student from your class can come to you with questions that you can answer if you want, otherwise you would pass it along to the prof, get their answer, and then inform the student. The student rep is the voice of the students in a sense, especially for those who are too intimidated to go to the professor for questions. You may also give feedback about the lecture or course that most students find difficult to understand.
