Turns out I actually have to do my job today… honestly I’m excited.
I like my job.

It’s the end of National Student Employment Week, and we wanted to share a behind the scenes look at some of those that help keep the Fine Arts Library running–our student workers. Featured here is Nabi, one such student worker, working through a scan and deliver request, one of the daily tasks we fulfill here at the circulation desk.
Our book eye scanner can be a bit fiddly, but Nabi has become a pro at getting the best images from unwieldy artbooks that just don’t want to be scanned.
“Every shift has been a blend of learning and inspiration for me. I really like doing scanning because I find it challenging sometimes–for example, large art books, or black books, or big figures. I always try to get the best output for scanning–that’s one of my concerns. Generally I always play with those options.”

August 31st, 2024 || Weekend Working
I work on Saturdays at the museum, however after this week my brain could not handle more studying. So today was spent crocheting and watching Gilmore Girls while working. - completed the front of my Halloween Sugar Cookie Sweater (link here) - watched Gilmore Girls

I was having a pretty crappy morning. (Half of it my fault for procrastinating.) But, I still went for a walk in interview on campus. I have pretty high anxiety and I just want to go home and take a nap. But, I went in. Spoke to them. Went back to the Main library to hangout because the gentleman I needed to speak to was at lunch. Then went back to the Curriculum library to apply. Rocinante would be proud of me. For not giving up. He'd bend down, give me a kiss on the forhead and tell me I did a good job. He'd say even if I don't get it he's still proud. That makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Illumination Night
I’m staying on-campus for an extra two weeks to work commencement and reunion which means that I got to watch Senior Week unfold! Smith has a TON of traditions including Illuminations Night. Held the night before commencement, the campus is lit up by colored paper lanterns. Alumnae, Seniors and everyone else walk around campus and the botanic garden as music plays and a cappella groups perform. It’s a truly whimsical night and I feel so lucky that I got to experience it! In three years, that will be me!
Lanterns as far as the eye can see!
More lanterns!
The Botanic Garden had extended hours until 10pm so I wandered around with one of my friends for a bit!
Smith lit up this sign over paradise pond to celebrate the Class of 2019!
Cute note left by an alum in the Botanic Garden!
Obligatory Botanic Garden mirror selfie
I'm also gonna miss making really salty signs for the photography dark room 🤣😂
Hello and how are you I need some advice on how I can pass my A&P exams what is your best approach to studying I work 2 jobs to stay afloat but I need this as well greatly appreciated ?
for those who don’t know: A&P = Anatomy and Physiology
Hi I’m doing great thank you, hope you are being able to find peace in the middle of your busy days and between all of the places you have to be.
About studying while working, I’m not the appropriate person to give advice since I feel like it’s something you have to have the experience.
But from what my friends who are student workers tell me, it’s about very rigid time management and prioritizing. Making sure you are using your time very efficiently. Also using the student workers benefits your college provides, especially when you can’t be in two places at the same time. Planning and studying weeks ahead is your best friend. But you most likely already know this at this point, working how you’re working, you need to know how to study hard and be disciplined already.
However, regarding studying anatomy my friend: draw draw draw. And also youtube videos. :) Here’s what I wrote about studying anatomy.
I haven’t taken Physiology yet, :(( but I have taken Biochem and Histology, and in this post I explain how I study effectively for it.
Also please check out these: study techniques for finals, study less study smart, memorizing technique.
I’m trying hard to write more but I think this is as far as I can give advice. I hope this helped and that you keep working hard.
I have no idea about your situation and for how long you’re going to have to keep those 2 jobs. Please be aware of your health, physical and mental, even when it’s hard. Even when it’s hard, keep your heart light and head up, stay positive and think of brighter days. (i recommend Yoga with Adriene)
Lots of love, anything else let me know
