Evaluation of Professional Practice and Research into Industry

 When I was first given my brief, I wasn't quite sure what to think or expect. I was quite an exciting project but I actually realised I have enjoyed it more than any other project. I also feel that this is the most effort I have put in to any project and I think it shows in my work so I am thoroughly impressed with my final pieces.

I decided that I wanted to show my unique selling points but in a nice way. I think my copyright is a strong aspect of mine and this is what would make or break my work. It was crucial part to making my unconventional idea work. I am very pleased with my copywriting and I think they work very well and they are related to me but also relate to the industry. It was difficult to create the typographies as this is something that I have never done before but I have really enjoyed doing it. It took me quite a few attempts to write them up but I finally got it going. My major problem was my lack of knowledge in creating the typographies as I struggled when I was processing them in photoshop. For me, it was a matter of seeking some help and also trial and error which I did for numerous days. I changed the colours on them which I think make them bolder and I also printed them out and went over them with thick pens and then scanned them back in. It was a lengthy process but certainly worth it. I also wanted them to look tidy and neat so I moved some of the words around to fit in a better style. 

From the beginning, I had the idea of a 'keen bean' and I still managed to corporate it within my designs. I wrote up the typography for it and managed to package it onto a bag of jelly beans which I could send out with the post cards. I think my design works well and its a concept that can easily be sent out to agencies. I am certainly going to work on this over summer and start to send them out so I can get a placement. If I was to do this again (which I am) then I will look more into the overall packaging and also print the postcards professionally as my printer didnt print to the quality that I would of liked.

Personally, the thought of contacting agencies was a daunting prospect for me. Although I know I can talk to new people quite easily, It was scary trying to get our feet through the doors! Many of the companies we visited were very welcoming, helpful and honest with us which is something I particularly appreciate as I know the real world of work is anything but plain sailing.  I think that overall we did very well, especially managing to get to speak to so many different people from the industry by just giving them a doughnut.  By doing this task, I have found it incredibly useful as it was possibly one of the biggest learning curves I have taken upon to be able to get a placement and possibly get my career off the ground. If I was to do this task again then I would certainly go around more companies as time was not particularly on our side but we managed to get plenty of responses in the time scale we had set. Overall, I have a much better understanding of what it would be like to work for the typical Graphic Design companies and I have learnt crucial things from the designers at the top of their game.
