SECRET / DINNER
The dinner in this case was hosted by one time city slicker chef turned country farm girl, Cara Brink, who prepared a dinner for a small group of people in the midst of a photographic art gallery. Her interesting palette of tastes and passion for cooking surfaced quite well, Brink almost tears up as she describes her knowledge of which Gemsbok came from where, and which Zebra passed from the fields in Namibia to the plates, on the crisp white cloth of the dining table.
The Spier Secret Festival which runs from the 25-26 October will be hosting London based baker, Lily Vanilli, well known for her sculptural, macabre creations such as road kill cake, gingerbread gravestones and marzipan beetles. Vanilli’s celebrity clientele includes the likes of Elton John and Vogue Magazine.
The Spier Secret Festival offers a one day conference, where people are spoilt with meals and tastings throughout the day by world renowned local and international chefs, bakers and food experts. This is an opportunity for guests to explore food as an art form, from the rest of the globe.
In keeping with the spirit of culinary creativity, Connect ZA will be hosting and live streaming a secret Food Jam that will be taking place on the 27 October at a secret venue. The Food Jam which will be an experience with a variety of people interacting to make recipes that include the use of theatrics, improvisation and spontaneity.
