Back in the Studio
Back in the Studio
Yup, I’m back in the studio….Studio Spin, that is! The above photo was taken by Michelle Johnsen Photography at the Open Streets event from last month. I just happened to be at Studio Spin’s table when this was taken. It’s also the first photo taken of me hooping in quite a while, since usually I’m the one taking pictures. 🙂 I am currently taking a Hoop Choreography series taught by Krystal…

Studio Spin's Mannequin Challenge
Studio Spin’s Mannequin Challenge
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I did. To work off the turkey, Rachel Skye from Studio Spin had an open pole/hoop/silks jam at the studio, and we did a mannequin challenge video while we were there. I was the hoop mannequin, obviously. I chose to do a one handed float move as my pose, and my arm was starting to shake by the time Toni, who was taking the video, came by and got me on…

Three Major Excuses
I’ve been stuck between a rock an a hard place, hooping-wise, for a month and a half now. The last time I was hooping was down in the Outer Banks a few weeks ago. Here’s what been going on, as there are three major excuses affecting my situation right now. Excuse 1: I’m in physical therapy for the sacrum in my back. Again, good ol’ PT. I’m only going once a week, and I’m doing a good bit of…

Double Trouble
Nah, it’s not really trouble, but a challenge, and one I will eventually conquer. First off, it needs to stop raining, because I have some new stuff I need to practice! This is why I’m grateful for classes at Studio Spin. It gives me a chance to actually hoop without the threat of being drenched by the constant and damp that has been plaguing a lot of the East Coast during the past two weeks,…

First Time Hooping Flush
First Time Hooping Flush
The first class of the Ab Fab Hoop Lab on Wednesday night was great! There were three other people in class. Two were college students on break who were looking for a fun activity to do before they went back to school, and the other was a nice lady named Connie. Connie had seen hoopers in Long’s Park during the park’s summer concert series, and thought it looked fun, so she found the class at…

Carol
I got to hang out with a new hooping friend on Sunday. Her name is Carol, and we are in Jenny’s hooping class at Studio Spin on Monday nights. The week before, she had wanted someone to hoop with, just for practice and such, and I told her I’m usually up for stuff like that. We exchanged contact information.
Come Friday night, she e-mails me asking if I’d like to get together on Sunday. I…

Studio Spin's Instructor Showcase and Student Recital
Studio Spin’s Instructor Showcase and Student Recital
On Saturday, August 15, I had the pleasure of performing a hoop dance routine to a great audience at Studio Spin in Lancaster, PA. Studio Spin in an alternative fitness studio where they focus on pole dance, but also offer classes in belly dance, fitness, and of course, hoop. The students and instructors performed with enthusiasm and professionalism. It was a great show to be a part of.
