This season presents a collaboration inspired by flow and integrity. a project that showcases an ancient Damascus block printing technique that has been brought back to life by the wonderful artisans of Lebanon at Studio Kunukku - a design studio based in Beirut, Lebanon that aims to tell stories of displaced communities through lost and endangered crafts. Founded in 2020 by Sarah Hayes an American anthropologist with a focus on migration, cultural heritage and identities. Studio Kunukku aims to utilise block printing as a medium for social change and transformation. Preview | Chandra SS22 Flow and balance amidst the chaos ••• As part of our Artisanal Lab, we collaborate with Studio Kunukku, a design studio based in Beirut, Lebanon that aims to tell stories of displaced communities through lost and endangered crafts. Founded in 2020 by Sarah Hayes an American anthropologist with a focus on migration, cultural heritage and identities. Studio Kunukku aims to utilise block printing as a medium for social change and transformation. This joint collaboration has resulted in the creation of a gender-neutral capsule collection of clothing and bespoke accessories for yoga and pranayama meditation practices which forms part of BAV TAiLOR’s shanti wellness sphere. ••• Photographed & Directed by Hussam Halawa - Studio Kunukku’s visual direction and identity, and digital media. Featuring Ward AlKhalaf - creative director for Studio Kunukku, with a focus on textile, fashion, and furniture design, originally from Damascus, Syria. Besides his own art practice with works on paper, he worked on projects in the fields of book illustration, fashion design, and art direction. Other souls of Studio Kunukku: Fadi AlMelhem is an artist from Suwayda, Syria. He specialises in printmaking, wood carving and jewellery making. All of Studio Kunukku’s block prints are designed by the team and carved in-house by Fadi.  Nano Shillah is a Palestinian born activist and social worker.
