Wanted to try on wood before I get a boarded made and also for my PC1 module I will be painting on wood so it will be used as a test piece for that as well.

It is also the first time that I have used black in my paintings. I know black makes the colour flat so I mixed it with some red so it’s not a pure. Maybe I need to try add the the black a different way because it just looks to organised.

There is definitely things I need to improve on int he future.

The colours haven’t mixed which is good

The colours have stayed bright and separate

The textures are great

The paint has been applied quite thick so the texture has remained once dry

I produced these two pieces over the summer after seeing a few people work in this style in first year. I found it to be quite a therapeutic process yet also interesting as you never know which paint is going to dominate the other and how fast/slow they're going to run. The second piece actually went wrong so I thought id add as many colours as possible and drip them down from the top, in my own opinion it is not a very successful piece of art however somebody else may thing differently. The second piece I produced in a different way by being more selective of the colours and also pouring them carefully in a circular motion and the finishing by dragging a stick round. I feel that the small of the two is the most successful and the method that I will probably take forward.

The Goop (purple and yellow) acrylic, dust, paper, studio filth. 137.16 x 137.16 cm 2018. This was my last piece of art that I made during my fine art education @fanshawecollege on which I graduated from last year. The focus is on using everything around and having the materials stick or fall. I am looking to make more work like this but can't do so in my bedroom.
