"Do you ever think we might be a little too weird?"
buzzing in my ear // stiles&derek
If someone had told him a year ago that he'd be spending the better part of his time wandering around the high school he dropped out of as a teen, he wouldn't have believed them. Then again, if someone told him a year ago that his nearly brain dead uncle would murder his sister and a psychotic teen would sick a giant lizard monster on half the town, he probably wouldn't have believed that either. In yet here he was, having faced both and wandering about the high school as if he actually belonged there. It would only take one person questioning his presence to have him escorted out, but Derek could be charming when he really put his mind to it, so he wasn't terribly worried.
As he slowly made his way down the main hallway, Derek barely even noticed the few students peppered throughout it. It was still early in the morning, early enough that most kids were probably still trying to get themselves out of bed and dressed rather than gracing the halls of Beacon Hills High. That's why he picked this time, after all. There was a far less chance of him running into anyone other than the person he was there to see. It hadn't been that long at all since Allison let Boyd and Cora out of the bank vault, a little over a week since he had let himself become their own personal scratching post in order to save some English teacher he didn't even know. And now, in true Hale fashion, here he was following her to where she worked in hopes of somehow straightening things out. Maybe that whole creepy alpha wolf thing really did have some merit.
Rounding the corner to the English wing, Derek stopped in his tracks at the sound of a familiar voice, high pitched and far too chipper for how early in the morning it was. Body stiffening, he glanced around in hopes of finding an open door or a bathroom to slip into, at least until the coast was clear. The last thing he wanted, nor needed, was that voice to catch up with him and start asking questions. He had done a particularly good job of avoiding people thus far and he hoped to keep that up, but fate seemed to have other ideas.
Unable to find an exit aside from the one far behind him, Derek pursed his lips and let out an annoyed huff of air. Maybe if he was quick and made it to Ms. Blake's room without drawing too much attention, he'd be able to avoid whatever hell awaited him otherwise. Stiles was nothing if not talkative and were he to get stopped by the teen, there was no doubt in his mind that he'd never make it where he was headed. Not to mention, he was the last person Derek wanted to stumble upon while wandering the hallways. He'd even take Allison over the hyperactive teen, and he was pretty sure she still wanted him dead for what he did to her mother.
He really didn't have time for this. The more he waited, the more crowded the hallways seemed to get, so instead of just standing there like some creep he pressed forward. The plan was to just charge on through the hallway, hopefully escaping the teen's attention and getting out again before anyone else could stop him. He wasn't here on a social call, not really, he just had to make sure that the teacher wasn't going to talk. He had enough on his plate, he didn't need that getting out too. Unfortunately, as soon as he pressed forward down the hallway, the teen picked that moment to come out, causing Derek to stop short in and attempt to keep from plowing him over. Really, he should've just kept going, because Stiles looked as if he was about to open his mouth and start asking questions, which really wasn't something Derek had the patience for at the moment. "Don't," he grunted before he stepping around him and continuing on his way, hoping Stiles was smart enough not to follow.
