Some Christians are more in love with the idea of God than they are in God Himself. Some love "theology" more than the God whom they seek to study. These would prefer the gong of a brilliant homily, a paragraph of wit, a treatise of depth, to a secret encounter of God in the heart beyond any cognitive perception, sensory feeling. Keep the sermon and the book, how useful they are when not a snare, but love the End not the means.
