Last night I caught up with a friend over dinner at Zapata's.

Given it has been around for what seems like forever I thought I should finally give it a go.

The décor was cute and I liked that the layout created lots of smaller spaces, creating a more intimate dining experience.

The menu was a little intimidating, everything kind of looked the same so it was hard to decide!

Eventually I settled on the Tostada and my friend had the Chicken Flautas (upgraded from an entrée to a main size).

Both meals came out quite quickly and both were quite tasty.

The Tostada could have had a thicker layer of rice on the bottom and I did find the sauce the meat was served in a bit to sweet but when paired with the sour cream it was balanced out.

My friend described the Flautas as giant Mexican spring roles and I would have to agree. Very crispy but lacking a strong flavour punch.

Overall staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Not about to make it onto my top 10 any time soon but I would visit again.

As a final note, I am a huge fan of any place that carries their theme right through the venue including the powder room and in this case I was so impressed I even took a photo!
