At the end of my Solas romance, I ran straight in to this room. He wasn't there. Obviously. I just felt kinda empty... was so used to jumping out of the rookery onto his desk and him being there, pondering something important. Alas. No one knows heartbreak like Levellan.
I imagine her just curing up on the sofa at night, surrounded by his art, and hoping he'll come back. Or that mayhaps she'll meet him in the fade.
