In ‘Frontierland’, Castiel ends up killing his Lt., Rachel, his second in command, for daring the question his methods; because she ‘knew his secret’. It’s played off like she disagrees with his loyalty to the Winchesters but that’s a misdirection based on what’s to come. This could have been a poignant moment in the narrative, showing the audience how far astray Castiel has gone for his war, foreshadowing what was to come, and a gut wrenching loss of yet another female character.

Instead, I didn’t even remember that this happened because they introduced her one scene earlier and didn’t bother to develop yet another female character.

I miss my babies so much and the show only ended a week ago. No matter what the CW and the Stupidnatural writers say/do, they will never take away the beautiful and complex ship that is Destiel.

On one hand, I could probably write an essay on how Sam and Dean Winchester’s constant, explicit positioning as tools to be used instead of as a people (”Daddy’s blunt little instrument”, the pre-natal selection as the chosen one by Azazel, the vessels for Michael and Lucifer, the necessary ingredients to God’s story) makes for a good commentary on the consumption of young male bodies for military power and patriarchal violence.

On the other hand, this season the Winchesters got trapped in THE DINOSAUR DIMENSION.
