She’d just got home from running errands; mostly for her current house guest. Usually, it was either dogs or deviants that came by to stay. But in his case, he’d need a some changes of clothes, and the general stuff you don’t get to bring along when you’re suddenly on the run.

 When she let herself in, she was immediately ambushed by her pitbull Lola; whose entire back end wiggled with excitement. After she shut and locked the door, she gave the dog a kiss and called out to Luke.

 “Hey- I’m home-!”

He knew where to find him. Hank KNEW that there was no way Glanton would just bail without saying goodbye to his sister. Not after what she’d been through. Besides, the heat would be on him, so he was likely laying low until later.  Sure, he had his gun, but he’d left his badge in the car. He had no intentions of making any arrests. As a favour to Emma.

 He knocked on the door.    “It’s Hank- I come in peace.”

He did seem familiar- but for a moment she couldn’t place him. But he was being cool, so she lowered the bow in her hands. Wait- no. She remembered.

 “You were from that Alexandria place, right?” She didn’t want to bring up his family or anything- just in case something bad happened to them.

"Why dirty plates?" But he got two forks from the drawer and handed her one.

“Works for me.”

She thanked him as she took the fork from him and started to dig in.

“Happy Birthday, Luke.”

"I was gonna say... Pig." He joked. "Nah no candles."

“Haha.”

She smirked, then took out the cake and set it on the counter.

“Okay fine. Want to grab some plates or are we going to just eat it out of the pan?”

*gives candy* "Now wheres my fucking cake loser."

“Thanks for the candy. But I ate your cake.”

No, she didn’t. She went to the fridge opened the door- holding it open to show him the cake she’d made him. Of course she wouldn’t forget her brothers birthday.

“Happy birthday, Luke. Should I put candles on it? A sparkler or two?”

She looked over at him with a smirk, then held out the joint to him. 

“Break any hearts today?”

That actually made her laugh, and smoke trickled out of her nose and lips when she did. She plucked her cigarette and flicked the ashes into the ashtray.

“I don’t know about that. I mean, when I was ‘making other plans’? Life didn’t happen. Death did. Now I’m a fucking corpse and I just want  my life back.”
