Awww, thank you for the well wishes!! xx.  I feel terrible that I haven’t been as around lately, it feels like when I do get some tumblr time during the day I feel rushed and never reblog anything, I should remedy that this weekend.  And it’s not a bother at all!  Tokyo Drift will never be forgotten, and it is still in drafts - it’s just a matter of having the time to make it more than that?  

(Lol I feel like I’m a member of 1D giving an unsatisfactory answer about the hiatus -- I maintain that I have the most legit of intentions to get it done one day, I just can’t tell you that day.  And also, you will be the only person who will still want to read it at that point, probably.  But seriously, it’s always nice to know that it’s still in people’s minds!)

im rereading the stylan fics and i can't get over the amount of times they shag in it, so two things 1) how's tokyo drift coming? 2) would you and irishmizzy ever write canon narry like how it's now?

Lololol ah yes, Stylan, aka when we totally cashed in on the shame gland-ectomies that we had years ago and wrote about them banging nonstop.  (It felt important to the story! - our excuse, always)  But ANYWAY, in answer to your questions:

1) It’s....coming!  After making so many promises previously I’ve learned my lesson because life happens a lot in this current reality and I have no real timeline on completion?  I will say that I was able to write some of it a couple of weekends ago, which is a good sign!  Plus, even though Harry and Stevie Nicks blew up our spot and acted out part of Tokyo over the weekend, it still was wildly motivating in terms of finishing stuff up, so I feel better about getting it done. :)  Everyone who still cares is a saint for being so patient about this, I hate leaving things unfinished but I never thought it would be this long. <3

2) For current canon narry, I really don’t know?  It’s sort of difficult with everyone chasing their own path at the moment, although I know there could be some really compelling stories in there.  I think the thing would be finding what that thread would be, since I personally don’t think there is naturally occurring angsty angst between them now and it’d have to be rooted in something else (kind of like that post-undergrad feeling of growing apart and finding new things and new people and the weirdest part is that you’re not sad about it, not most of the time, and that doesn’t change the friendship at its core, etc etc someone please shut me up now)

did you know that someone will be writing a stylan fic? how do you feel about that?

I did not know, and I would say that I need more information until I could make a call on how I feel about it?  Is it a fic within the universe that @megalong and myself created, or just a fic where they’re a duo?  There’s a difference there.  

If we’re being entirely honest, if it is the latter, even having them be a duo CALLED Stylan is a little...I’m not sure it sits well with me, personally.  Obviously I/we are very well aware that Stylan as a shorthand for those two idiots being a musical duo has reached beyond just “fic” 1D fandom, but there’s a little bit of a difference there with regard to that being their name in another fic?  Or even being used as a shorthand FOR a fic where that’s the premise.  If it’s entirely divorced from our Stylan universe, then I don’t see why you would want to still use our ridiculous portmanteau since it is rooted in an entirely different fic universe.  

**please keep in mind that I am saying all of this without any real particulars on this situation, but in the absence of that these are my preliminary HOT TAKES.

Hi! Hope you're doing well :) I was curious, are u and megalong still working on/planning to share the 3rd installment in the epic stylan universe?? Not intending to put on any pressure, just a devoted fan of your writing and was wondering. I still check the narry ao3 tag about once a week in case you've posted! :) and this weekend I reread the one with all the football-soso good. Id love if u had any more nuggets to share from that universe too! Basically I miss your narry. Urs is the best! xx

First of all, it’s TERRIBLE just how long it took me to answer this (see also: people asking for a rec list I swear that’s next on my list this week), but I do want to say that I got this lovely message on my birthday and that was a lovely little gift, so thank you!! xx

Second, no pressure at all - there’s a few other messages I have about it and I’ll get to those as well but I wanted to at least answer something about it because while it blows my mind constantly, I know that people do still care!  I’m not going to lie, there hasn’t been much work done on Stylan 3: Tokyo Drift because of a lot of reasons, and most of that is entirely on me!  I hate to be ~vague~ but you know, life happens sometimes, unfortunately. :(  Plus the world is on fire, etc etc.  

ALL THAT BEING SAID, I do fully intend on finishing it because as a terrible terrible perfectionist, I couldn’t go back on a promise like that or leave something unfinished.  (Plus, oh my god, you don’t even know how much work goes into our outlines - that is not going to waste on my watch.)  After a less than ideal start to the year, I am thinking things will be a little easier going forward.  So we’ll see!!  I can’t say when or even if it will be soon, in the interest of full transparency, but that is my hope.  

(By the way, it is immensely flattering that you like our narry that much when there are some really great authors in this fandom and it’s been over a year since we posted any narry at all. <3)

how's that stylan fic coming along 👌🏽

It’s coming along!  I sincerely apologize for not having more for you than that - I really wish that I could say something like, “WELL GUESS WHAT IT’S HAPPENING ANY SECOND!!” but I honestly can’t and at this point I also don’t want to falsely pinpoint a hopeful time frame.  It sucks.  Again, not for lack of wanting to finish ASAP but there are only so many hours in the day, and the degree of busy hard stuff that’s been flung our way for most of this year has not been conducive to our usual relatively speedy writing process.  Lol I had a crazy 16 hour day of meetings yesterday and I feel like the most appropriate response would be, “it’s still on the roadmap for 4Q but this is liable to change at any point.”  

(I FEEL SO AWFUL ABOUT THIS ANSWER.  :’(  I will say that I was already going to try this weekend and send @irishmizzy a bunch of stuff, but I realize that’s probably not a very satisfactory thing for you to hear. :(  I do appreciate you asking though, sweet anon!  It’s good to get those little kicks of motivation as we work through it.)

OMG OMG IM SO EXCITED ABOUT STYLAN!!!!!! I HAVENT STOPPED YELLING ABOUT IT,,, AND I LITERALLY WONT STOP. CAUSE OF THE DIFF IN TIMEZONES I WAKE UP EVERYDAY TO CHECK THE NARRY FEED TO SEE IF NEW STYLAN HAS BEEN POSTED . EVERYONE LOVES THE UNIVERSE THAT YOU BOTH CREATED AND THEY WOULD DIE FOR IT!

speaking of stylan 3!! :) (re your latest post), how is it going!?? i just re read "way no way" this weekend while laying in my bed to hide from the 105 degree heat outside. any little hints or stories/tidbits about the writing process so far that you could share with us as a teaser?

Okay first of all, GOOD WAY TO AVOID THE HEAT.  This weekend was like a real live action Dante’s Inferno, I spent it lying on @megalong‘s couch with a perma glass of sangria drunkenly yelling about Nathan Adrian, a perfect man, for hours because the second anyone stepped even a toe outside their body liquefied.

BUT ANYWAY, this is actually relevant to your question, because after that solid showing of us screaming about our storied Olympic swimmer history for hours we transitioned to yelling about Stylan 3 and really piecing together those last bits of plot.  Can I preface this by saying we feel like massive failures for taking forever?  Life, man.  It takes and it takes and it takes.  But we keep writing anyway, and are COMMITTED to finishing it, and are actually really excited for what we have planned and the themes we’re going to try and work in?  Hopefully it’ll be a satisfying conclusion.  And I’m not going to be a dick like last time and give an possible completion date because sometimes things happen and then five months later you’re like “ohhhhh you gotta stop promising things you can’t deliver”.  Either way, we are chipping away at it, and I just opened the outline to see like...what possible tidbits I could share that wouldn’t be massively spoilery.   I can say that it does start with Harry’s birthday again?  This is...am I making it sound appealing at all?  I really don’t want to ruin anything for all five people who still care, lol - I can say that possible things included are: a tour, a party, a big trip, a big ship, a haircut, and a letter.  OOOOoooooooOOOOooooooo.  I know, I’m really making it sound great right now.

april! what a lovely news! i didn't know you'd be posting so soon! i'm so, so excited to read more from you, whenever it comes out. i was just waiting for an excuse to reread way no way, now literally nothing is stopping me! what a genuinely great time to be alive :) .

Ahhhh this is so nice I even refrained from making a The Waste Land joke about how April is sometimes not the cruellest month (which I just made anyway, and I am sincerely sorry for that).  But yes!  That does feel so soon now that you mention it (and I’m looking forward to the ???? text that @megalong will probably send me the second she checks tumblr and sees what checks my anon answers are writing that we gotta cash this month).  Thank you for being so lovely and nice and supportive of us!  Xxxx
