-- IT WASN’T UNLIKE OPTIMUS to sustain wounds during a firefight; however, the wounds he had gathered in this recent encounter left him in a vulnerable state. With energon leaking from his helm and a strong ringing in his audio receptors, there was a minimal chance that he could continue fighting.
Seeking the likes of Ratchet was not hard. Optimus had feared that his direct retaliation would have some serious consequences, so his direct order to the medic was -- quote, “ remain on the sidelines in case of immediate emergency treatment ”. How right he was, as the team protected him with all their might so the Prime could get some immediate treatment. He had already called for the team to fall back; it was just a matter of getting far enough so they could avoid anymore losses.
A part of him scolded his meek attempt to exact the wrongs of the past, but curse his spark if he did not care for his friends that he had lost. Such recklessness should be frowned upon, since even he knew that vengeance would not resolve the sorrow he felt with losing those he cared for. The Prime knew that he should never be the exception to his own rules; which was why he issued the order to fall back.
“ Ratchet --- my friend,
we need to fall back now, but I fear that if I attempt to
push forward WITHOUT medical assistance, I may
not survive the encounter. ”
Optimus kept his weight steady on his pedes, blue optics focused on his chief medical officer. He never thought that the humans would be capable of such damage, not only to them but to their own planet; the Prime had hoped that he would be able to change their ways to a better path. A path that differentiated from that of Megatron’s -- a path that was not filled with a divided race and a lust for power.
He had seen the horrors that Cemetery Wind had inflicted upon his friends. Never again will he let that happen.
“ A temporary fix will suffice for now, but we NEED to move.
These humans won’t give us another opening, I know
this from previous experiences.
They are unrelenting in their attack. ”
