If to be honest, Zaer had lost the track of time. She couldn’t say how long already had she been dragging from a bar to a bar, drinking the harshest liquor she could get her hands onto, starting fights out of thin air, cursing everybody and everything.
The demon’s eyes were bloodshot, skin covered in cuts and bruises. But she did not care. She just wanted to drown in alcohol and her own drespair.
It was how Azazel finally found her after two weeks of frantic search and hundreds of messages in her very rude voicemail. Slumped in the corner of the bar, a bottle of vodka as her only friend.
Well, until now. Without even considering his actions, Azazel strode to Zaer and snatched her into his embrace. “Thank Serpent I finally found you”.
She snarled and tensed at the sudden contact, as she was not paying attention to the surroundings neither saw him approaching, but when he spoke, she instinctively relaxed, recognizing him. After all, she was just broken under all of that fury.
“What are you doing here?..”
“What do you think?” Azazel felt so lost, so angry and so happy he did not even know what to say or what to do - scold her, yell at her, cry, lift her up and carry her around... kiss her? “I had been searching for you two weeks aready, I-... How dare you dissapearing like that?!. Not a word... I left you so many messages and you answered not a single one... How dare you,.. Z, I was so worried” his speech was cracked, he squeezed tightly in his embrace, nearly afraid she will escape again.
Zaer sighed and closed her eyes “Az, just... leave me”.
He snarled. Never. Never again.
“You should be with Raphael after all...”
Azazel shook his head “Screw Raphael”.
She did not have the strenght to struggle against him when he led her out of the bar and back home.
It was a nightmare to take a shower and to dress up in clean clothes. Zaer was just so tired, so sick of everything.
Finally, Azazel pulled her into the bed with him. Nearly unconsciously, she snuggled to him, laying her head on his chest. For the first time in those weeks, she felt a little better. And he just held her.
Perhaps their choice was clear.
