We get a little bit of focus on Elias and the wolf twins’ motives and immediate past, but its a shame that these two never get more focus than just “two twins wanting to fight for good”. I bet a page of them getting used to the city-like New Mobotropolis compared to their former way of life would have helped a little bit.
Also, I will always prefer how they are illustrated here than when Steven Butler draws them. They just look sooo much better with proper Mobian proportions.
Not too much happens in this issue, story-wise, but once again I’d like to praise Tracy Yardley for his artwork here. His linework and shadows and Steve Downer’s colouring make this issue really stick out as one of the most dynamic creepy-looking Sonic Universe issues I’ve ready in a while.
Man, Naugus is so creepy now. I guess we’ll have to wait until next issue to see more of an unhinged, monstrous-looking evil wizard, or to see if any of the Secret Freedom Fighters survived their falls in the dangerous caves below.
This issue wasn’t as engaging as the last one, but who knows? Next issue just might blow me away. If its got Shard and Silver in it, then I’m more than ready. xP
Look cover wouldn’t look out-of-place on a James Bond poster. I wouldn’t be surprised if this reference was intentional. They even have the characters “starring” in this adventure like its a film production!
This issue happens alongside the events of #41, showing Elias leading the wolf twins into Naugus’ cave neverwork. It is indeed ironic that he never wanted to be a “king”, and now he’s going behind the scenes with the Secret Freedom Fighters to get his role back, even being given “King” as his code name.

This issue is 90% these guys following fiery Naugus, and 10% flashbacks. Not going to lie, I kind of wish there were more flashbacks, because as much as I love action in these comics, the characters here don’t have the same charisma as their teammates in the previous issue. Maybe its because they don’t have much to show, or possess any crazy powers like Silver, Shard and Jynx do than their gadgets?
