A cool breeze tickled against your skin.
Finally finished sorting through the remainder of fresh produce from the garden. Not your own garden. But one belonging to an elderly man you often helped harvest. His house laid at the start of the strip of housing you passed every day. Directly on the outskirts of town, just a hop and a slip away from your own. He had stopped you and asked if you could possibly take his place at the farmer’s market. Seeing as his wife had fallen ill. Offering to pay you, but you declined. Simply doing it out of the kindness of your heart.
The sun was beginning to tuck itself in. Losing its warmth behind the tree-line. Allowing its lover to take its place in the sky. Shining a beautiful mixture of colors across your skin while they danced together before parting ways again. Colors like a goodbye kiss from the sun to the moon. Replacing her soft blue with a deep oceanic color. Speckled with kisses of stars. Truly, a stunning spectacle for any willing to watch.
The produce laid beautifully in the wicker basket you had brought from home. Your grandmother had made it for your mother. Standing the test of time. Still strong and reliable, as the woman who made it had been. It made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. A soft memory of all those before you, even if none of them were left.
You were alone. Left only the farmhouse your grandfather had built. Nothing spectacular, just a home. What more could you ask for, really? Long gone were the days where the walls echoed family melodies and the sounds of laughter. Remembering how your parents would hum and dance together to some old church hymn. So far rooted inside you, unable to even remember where it started. But never did their voices fade from the walls of your heart. Still alive in you.
One by one, your fellow vendors left their stands. You were too busy watching the sunset to notice how vacant it had became. Counting the constellations that your mama had taught you when you were little.
“Always off in her own world,” one of the middle-aged women had mumbled to another. A loving mockery. No one ever understood your family, not really. Sometimes people spread rumors about the kind of medicines your mama would sell. Herbal remedies. Teas. Things that made people uncomfortable. People were often not fans of the way your mama did things. Burning sage. Cleansing any new space. They often would turn up their noses at you all. Protecting their own peace by acting like everything should stay the same all the time. Refusing to acknowledge all out there in the world.
A flash of light darted across the sky. Leaving a soft green tail behind it. Disappearing nearly as quickly as it had appeared. You took that as your sign to get back to your basket. Smiling to yourself as you blew a kiss up to the sky.
You said your goodbyes to some more townspeople leaving. Seeing something scurry under the table you had been set up at. Blowing your breath out as you got onto your hands and knees to see what it could have been. Hoping it was not a rodent making its escape with some of the leftover produce.
There were steps on the ground.
A man practically appeared out of the darkness before you. Average stature. Messy dark brown locks sticking to his forehead. Sweat glistening along his brow. Dirty white button down and suspenders. His eyes practically shining from the moon’s glow. Glancing down into the basket lying on the old wood bench. Bouncing back up to meet your own.
“Can I help you?” you padded down your skirt to get the dirt off you.
“Ah. I’m awfully sorry, miss,” he smiled, “I must’ve just missed the market, huh?”
“Afraid so,” you nodded, “This here is all I have left. Any of it interest you?”
“Oh, I wouldn’t want to hold you up,” he shook his head while holding up a hand.
“I promise it is no trouble,” you smiled softly.
His palm flattened against his forehead as he tried to look in the dark. Tactical eyes scanning each vegetable in your basket. Clicking his tongue before shaking his head. Clearly feeling rushed and having a slight unease to him. You looked him up and down. He was not familiar to you, which you found odd. Tending to see the same faces in your small town, not exactly somewhere outsiders found themselves.
“Goodnight, Y/N!” the only other vendor remaining waved at you as he hoisted his sack of mill into the back of his truck.
“Night,” you waved back.
“Gosh, I am so sorry. Here,” the stranger began fumbling with his pocket, “Just take this for your time. I had no intention of making you stay.” Pulling out a golden coin and trying to hand it to you. Grabbing your palm and opening it so he could rest it there. Closing your fingers around it and flattening his own against it.
“Like I said it’s no problem, sir. And I don’t want to take anything without you getting something in return,” you insisted. Grabbing some produce from your basket and holding it out to him, “This is what this gold coin would getcha.”
“Ma’am,” he trailed off, his own eyes glazing down your body, “You are too kind. There must be another way I can repay you for your time..?”
All you could do was grin. Shaking your head, looking to the path leading into town. Watching the last shadow of the other vendor’s truck disappear. Sighing and allowing your shoulders to slump. Biting the inside of your cheek before meeting the stranger’s eyes again.
He was handsome. A glint of neediness behind his dark eyes, “I could walk you home.”
You stared blankly. Weighing the possible consequences of accepting his offer. Trying not to assume the worst in him. Perhaps he was just a gentleman who saw a pretty young woman and wanted to make sure she got home safe.
“Sun’s down. I wouldn’t want you going in the dark all by yourself. A woman as beautiful as you—“
“Alright. You can put the charms away,” you laughed. Earning yourself a toothy smile from the man. Beginning to drape the handle of the basket over your shoulder when he stopped you. Gesturing for you to hand it over to him. Hesitance flowed through you. But you gave in. Handing it over and starting down the path to your home.
Crickets cried out into the night. Singing their harmony with the other insects riddling the woodlands. The moon shined down, illuminating the path forward. No other lights accompanying it. It seemed each home you passed was also done for the night. Any form of light disappeared from their windows. No reflection other than stars. You came upon the bridge leading to the outskirts of town. The frogs and toads sung along to the bugs melody. It had been one of your favorites since you were a little girl.
Your eyes wandered over to your escort. Admiring his side profile longer than you meant to. It caught his attention. He looked at you with hooded eyes, smiling softly.
“I didn’t get your name, stranger,” your voice was soft. Hinting at flirting with the smirk tugging at your mouth.
“Name’s Remmick,” casual nature bleeding through.
“I’m Y/N,” you nodded.
“Guess we ain’t strangers anymore,” Remmick smiled.
The way he said that made your guard take position once more. Defenses screaming that something was off. Moonlight catching his teeth. Had they been that shark earlier? And his ears were pointed a little inhuman. Almost a warning.
You continued down the path. Looking into any break in trees or rustling of bushes. Pointing to a fawn standing alone. Too young to be away from its mother, yet there it was. Staring at you. Frozen in fear. Still on shaky legs.
Finally, you got over the hill. Your home nestled sweetly in the valley. Baron of life that once was. Garden unkept. Grass overgrown. But it was yours. And that’s what mattered.
“My, my,” he whistled examining the wooden build, “Mighty fine place you have here.”
You chuckled under your breath. Rounding the fence line toward your front door. Shoes clicking against the stones you had laid with your mother when you were a little girl. You had went down to the river together and collected the flattest rocks you could find.
You stepped up the porch, your escort following two steps behind. You opened the front door and stepped inside. Turning to meet his deep eyes. Your own hooded as you looked him up and down. Pressing your shoulder into the frame of the entry, “Well. I appreciate the company.”
“It’s the least I can do, sweetheart,” he stood tall before you. Jaw pointed downward so that his eyes looked large. The pet name already being used so casually it made your head spin.
There was a thick silence between you. Waiting. Anticipating some kind of action.
Giving him one last smile and a muffled ‘goodnight’, you began to close the door. Jumping to a halt when he slammed his palm against the wood of your home. He was staring off toward the horizon. Pushing his tongue into his cheek as he bounced his leg. Clearly thinking before looking back to you.
Your heart dropped all the way down to your ankles. Every bit of air rung out of your lungs. Taking a step back, your eyes widening enough for it to strain your eyelids. Mouth parted without anything to say. You swallowed unable to believe what you were seeing.
Glowing red. Reminding you of the bleeding moon when you were a little girl. Standing outside with your daddy far past your bedtime. Staring up at the endless sea of night. Washing across the land in a deep glow that you had never seen again.
“Now, I know this ain’t how you treat a guest,” he snarled, voice echoing throughout the night. Features all growing more demonic than before. Drool pooling down the side of his chin. Teeth honed and prepared for his next meal. The air shifted around you. Growing thick, making it hard to breathe.
“You need to be going. Now,” your voice was steady. A strong departure from your posture.
He laughed. A dry laugh that sent a shiver down your spine.
“My leaving don’t mean we’re done,” he grinned, “Just wanna keep you company.”
“I told you to leave,” you gritted through your teeth.
“I’ll come back tomorrow.”
“And I’ll tell you the same thing then.”
Pointed tongue glazed over his teeth. Exhaling as he blinked and looked to the side. Hands tucking themselves into his pockets. He tilted his head to you as he began to walk away.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” his weight creaked down the steps. Holding completely still as you watched him disappear over the horizon. Whistling a tune you did not recognize until he was out of earshot. Your breath shivered through you. Feeling tears beginning to stream down your cheeks. Face to face with the devil himself. Your lip quivered. Tears flowing freely, your body still entirely shocked. Fingers wiping away the warmth.
You closed the door. Going to bed without lighting a candle or doing your nightly routine.
He said he would be back.
He meant it.
~
It became a ritual.
Sun went down. He was there. Standing right on the edge of your fence. Blocking the stone laid path. Eyes glowing like a creature from long ago. One without name or reason. Simply existing to feed. It went on for days. You lost count after the first week.
Always ignoring him when he arrived. Sometimes never looking out the window or opening the door. But some nights you were more curious than others. And some nights he was braver than others.
You had been tending to flowers in the garden around sunset. Pulling off rotting buds. Keeping the bit that framed your house still beautiful. Making sure the land remained cared for.
The sky was losing its color to the ocean of the night. Sun disappeared, stars beginning to twinkle in its ascended. You held the shotgun tightly at your side. Preparing all day for the return of your unwanted guest. Promise of his return weighing heavy on your shoulders. He had kept it each night. He had not caught you outside yet. You would hide deep in your home to avoid him.
While not entirely sure, you had a good idea what he was. There was a reason he did not reach in after you the first night. He was unable to pass into your home. It was your sanctuary.
Snapping of a twig caught your attention. Raising the gun your daddy had left you. One foot already up the steps. Fortress barely five feet away. It was him. Elbow rested upon the fence post. Figure mostly shadowed.
He began to step towards you. Slowly like being stalked by a predator. Taking a step back for each of his. His arms were raised in surrender, but you knew that was a lie. Continuing your steps until you were inside your home. Gun still pointed straight at him.
“You here to hurt me?” you knew better. Your mama had taught you about the stories of unholy things from times before. The Natives to this land told of many a spirit. Creatures hidden in the depths of the forest awaiting their next unsuspecting victim. Founding members of society sharing their own versions of the stories. Bringing something from the homeland with them. Something wicked and vile. Only here to hurt those who still owned their own souls.
“Nah, miss,” his voice was as slow as honey dripping from the hive, “I just wanna come in. That’s all.”
The breeze howled. Trees rustling with life you would never be a part of. Deer scurrying from any crack of sticks. Hares fleeing from the jaws of the coyotes. Little hearts practically ripping out of their rib cages. Beating similar to how yours did now. Trapped. No where left to run.
“Can’t come in without an invite?”
He chuckled. Blowing his breath out as he looked down to the steps of your porch. Rolling his shoulders and giving you a closed mouth smile. "Clever, ain't'cha?"
You lowered the gun. Pride filling you for being right. Reading all the signs correctly. Thankful that your mother had educated you on the creatures that roamed these lands. A vampire. You thought most of them had been killed off by the Indigenous tribes around the area. Yet he stood in front of you now.
"I... I don't have anything to offer you," you exhaled, one hand still gripping the gun. Eyes darting around to avoid his heavy gaze.
"You do. You have the one thing I'm wanting. Just a few little words and I'll be satisfied," he purred.
You rolled your eyes. Sighing as you gripped the door knob. Ready to throw some holy water in his face. Blow a hole clean through his chest. Shove garlic down that throat. Maybe it would shut him up.
"I can feel your suffering."
Your brow tightened as your eyes narrowed in on him. Jaw locking as your nostrils flared.
"All that loneliness. Trapped inside such a beautiful shell. There's no reason for you to have to feel this way forever. I can fix it. Make it all go away," Remmick's voiced echoed in your ears.
You swallowed hard. Feeling a vein in your forehead pulse. Blinking rapidly as you tried to remain calm. Your eyes squinted in thought. He had some nerve showing up here like he knew you. Like he was some divine intervention that would swoop you off your feet and save you. You didn't need saving. It was all promises from a desperate animal. Doing whatever it can to get its next meal. Drawl you in close enough, then eat you whole.
"Fuck off," you slammed the door in his face. Teeth bared and eyes burning. Panting behind the thin wood. Able to hear how he did not move. As if he thought you would change your mind. Open the door and welcome him with open arms. He was delusional.
~
The sun crept in through your uncovered window. Glaring in your eyes and awaking you for the day ahead. You washed your face then got dressed. A deep sigh vibrated in your chest as you thought about the night before.
The front door creaked open. Shocked at the sight greeting you. The poor fowl’s neck had been rung. Lying on your porch lifeless surrounded by flies. Blood pooling from the tare in its jugular. Your hand cupped against your mouth.
It was fresh. Like it had been laid there right before sunrise only a bit prior. The blood was still bright red, not given time to darken. An offering that you had no desire in taking. You looked up at the edge of the forest. Sunlight barely breaking through the leaves. Sensing that he must have been tucked away deep in the foliage. Probably in some old boarded up shack that was abandoned. Reinforcing so that no sunlight could blister his skin. Able to keep an eye on you. Keep your presence near.
Nerves could feel it before your mind made the connection. Walking inside to grab some old newspaper before heading back out to the deceased bird. Scooping it up in the thick paper. Its eye was wide open. Looking so afraid even after death. Your heart ached for it. A life taken in vein by a beast that never cherished it.
You walked up the hill, small shovel tucked into your apron. Finally meeting the edge of the woods. A chill blew out of it. Warning you of what lied within. But you were not afraid.
Taking a knee, you laid the fowl tenderly on the ground. Digging a shallow hole. Sizing it perfectly to fit the corpse. Gently placing it and the paper into the hole. A prominent frown tugged at the corners of your mouth. Covering it with the turned soil. Patting it in the hopes no foxes or coyotes would dig it up. You clasped your hands together and bowed for a simple prayer. Something to ward off what had to be hidden in the woods.
You continued on with your day. Going into town to shop. Your pantry was dwindling, and you only wanted to be out while the sun was. But you got caught talking to one of the women at the grocery store. Greeted by the pink and orange sky when you finally exited the store. Your heart raced as you began walking towards home. Fighting your natural instinct to run.
What if the chicken was a warning? A vow to what he would do when he got his hands on you. You had to keep your composure. If anyone saw how distraught you were, they would insist on helping you home. You could not lead more people to him. If he was going to take anyone, it would be you. And you would put up one hell of a fight before you let that happen.
Once over the clearing, you picked up speed. Bags swinging at your sides. Squeezed between white knuckles. Your breath came out in broken pants. Nightly dew covering your skin in a layer of dampness.
What if he was already there? Blocking the only entry into your safe haven? Crimson orbs and daggers between his lips reflecting in preparation.
You were almost there. Hill leading down to your abode in your sight. Your heart rammed into your rib cage over and over. Hardly able to fill your lungs as you ran faster. Broken pants rolled through you as tears prickled the corners of your eyes.
Like your body was pre amply preparing you for the sweet kiss of death, your eyes forced themselves shut. Stopping at the edge of the gravel path leading to your front porch. Body shaking from head to toe. Only a moment passed.
He was not here.
You finally took a real breath. Smile tugging at the corner of your mouth in relief. You rushed down the path, old steps creaking under you as you took them one foot at a time. Practically jumping onto the porch. You stepped inside when you heard him.
“Ya didn’t like my gift?” his tone was dark.
You did not respond. Sitting your bags down beside the door and turning to face him. Only staring at him. Standing at the base of your steps as if he had only been a few steps behind you the entire time. His face was completely shadowed other than those glowing eyes.
“It was the prettiest one of the flock,” his head fell to the side. Sizing you up.
“Wasn’t yours to kill,” you flatly said. Leaning your shoulder into the doorframe. Not giving him the satisfaction of knowing you were afraid. Like you had not just ran the entire way home in hopes of avoiding him.
The silence between you could have been sliced through. Locking gazes together waiting to see who would break first. It was a stand off. His presence annoyed you. Insistent need to be near you. Despite all your rejections, he would not leave you alone.
You began to close the door when you saw him swiftly move.
Remmick fell to his knees at the edge of your porch. Finally showing himself to you. Blood painted his chin down to his chest. Splattered and drying. Spread wide and arms limp. Straining his neck backward, “What do I have to do? Want me to kill someone? Want me to tend to your crops? Want me to keep it clean around here? Take care of you forever? I’ll love you like no one has ever loved you before. I’ll do it all. Anything. Just let me in, darlin'.”
You laughed. Unbelievable. Awestruck. Baffled.
“You do this a lot?”
He blinked. Confused by the question, “Do what… exactly?”
“Beg,” you hissed.
“Only when something’s worth begging for,” his red eyes looked right through you. Head tilted and lips parted. Showcasing his sharp fangs. Razors on top and bottom.
“Guess this is how you convince every woman you follow home, right?” your arms were crossed over your chest. You knew this game like the back of your hand. Sweet talking so that you felt special. Same thing he would say to any woman he wanted. A hint of jealousy lacing your words. Like even the idea of him with other women made you angry.
“No. I ain’t… ain’t been with a woman in a long, long time,” vulnerability slipping for a second, “Especially one as ethereal as you, dear.”
Dear.
You arched your lip in disgust. Covering for the way his tender voice made your insides twist and knot. Your jaw flexed.
“You killed a lot of people?”
Remmick closed his eyes with a soft shake of his head. Taking a deep breath before answering, “f’course I have.”
It disgusted you. But you were not surprised. Stories told that it was their only source of sustenance. Collecting anyone he deemed necessary for his hoard.
“And you want to kill me too?”
Remmick scoffed. Rolling his eyes at the question. Clicking his teeth together as he thought.
“Make me part of you? One of you?”
“Not unless you want me to,” he spat, trying to get his point across.
You hummed in response. Hand coming up and rubbing against your neck. Pulse throbbing, reminding you of your humanity. You looked passed him to the soft mound of dirt upon the hill. The body of the fowl buried there. Wondering where your body would end up after he ripped your throat out. Would the townspeople view your body in disgust the way you had the bird? Would they pity you? Poor girl living all alone in that house outside the city. Too pathetic to defend herself. Guess we should hide her grave far away. Don’t want to explain to any land buyers what happened here.
“I… I just don’t understand,” your voice was low. Broken and confused. Your eyebrows knitted tightly. Mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. Begging to be able to breathe properly once more.
“Why me?”
Remmick exhaled. Falling onto all fours. Crawling as close to the threshold as possible without passing over. Leaning back on his legs so he could look up at you better. His brow had sweat on it. Creases decorating his forehead.
“You’ve taken me over,” his voice laced with longing, “I’ve dreamt of you. Every night. Your warmth. Soft skin. Right out of my reach every single time. I can’t continue on without you. I have to feel you in my grasp. Hear you desperately begging my name like I’m your savior. Keep you mine forever.”
You swallowed. Desperation causing your nerves to tingle. Flowing between your legs when he would whine. Sinful.
You gripped your arms between your hands. Replicating an embrace as you began to bounce your foot. Chewing on your lip as you tried not to look him in the eyes.
“I didn’t… do anything to-to make you feel like this,” your eyes welled up. Your stomach churned. Like this was all some kind of punishment.
“I know,” Remmick breathed, pausing between words, “I know… it’s just you. You are all I could ever need, sweetheart.” One of his hands bawled up the fabric of his shirt over his chest. Tightening his grip to the point of puncturing the stained fabric.
Tears streamed down your cheeks. Confused and overwhelmed by it all. You covered your mouth with your hand and turned your back to him. Shoulders shivering with each gentle and quiet sob.
“N-Now don’t cry, Y/N,” he reached out realizing he could not touch you, “I’d never hurt you.”
You stepped further inside grabbing the handle of the door as you looked over your shoulder, “You’re sick, Remmick.”
Slamming it in his face without another word.
~
It had been storming all day. Darkness enveloping the sky. Swallowing the warmth of sun whole. Clouds pillowed every inch of blue, replacing it with a sorta gray that made your stomach twist.
It made you think of him.
Wondering if days like this he could roam freely. No fear of sunlight cooking him with its rays. Able to hunt as he pleases. Maybe he would take this time to feel human again… if he ever was one.
No. There was no way. It was more than sunlight. More than just the warmth of the ball of fire beaming. There was some kind of cosmic control over him. Chaining him to the night’s soft glow.
Why else wouldn’t he have came by?
You stared out the screen door of your back porch. Watching how the dark clouds rolled. Hiding the sunset behind it. Colors being drowned by their heavy presence.
It would not be long before he was back on your steps.
You had the same candle resting on the window sill beside your front door. Orange light flickering against the glass. Insuring you would be able to see the details of his face. It made you feel in control. His inability to pass the threshold along with seeing past his human exterior. No matter how sweet he talked, you were the one holding the reins.
It was easier to fiddle with things around the house than let him know you were waiting. Knowing if he found out, it would go straight to his head. You could never let him know the hold he had on you.
The creak of your step made you jump up. Looking over your shoulder at the completely closed door. An ungodly silence wafted through the outside. Like all the animals knew what he was. Even the Earth herself knew. Hiding as to not be hurt my him.
You walked toward the door. Holding your breath. Waiting. For what exactly? A knock? A scratch of claws? You were not sure.
“Y/N…”
You swallowed. His tone had a whine behind it. Like an animal that you had kicked off the porch one too many times. Still coming back. Still begging.
Your hand was shaking as you reached for the handle. Tongue wetting your lip as you took a deep breath. Swinging the door open. Greeted by his large puppy-dog eyes. Barely glowing red. His normal button up had been scrapped. Leaving him in only a stained tank top. Defining his muscles and showing off the golden chain on his collar. His hair was tame compared to normal.
He must have fed. Regaining some form of composure with the fresh meal flowing through him. It was something you often tried not to think about. But you could acknowledge how much more human he looked like this.
“What do you want, Remmick?” you were bitter. Venom spitting from your tongue in hopes of pushing him away. Knowing he would say the same thing he always did.
“I just want to see you,” his voice had dropped an octave, “Hoping you’d let me in.”
“Why should I?”
That took him off guard. His brows furrowed immediately. Mouth parting trying to come up with an excuse that he thought you would like. Your temper was expected, but never had you given him the chance to bargain. He was speechless.
“I don’t know anything about you,” you shrugged, air falling breathlessly from you.
“Then get to know me,” he said flattening a hand against his chest. Over where his heart should be. Hollow. Lacking what would made him human.
You sucked your teeth. Lips piercing as you looked past him. To the side where the forest began. Lasering your eyes into the shift in the bushes. How the trees swayed. Thinking hard about what he had proposed.
You sighed. Walking away from the doorway without a word. It made Remmick’s throat tighten. Maybe this would be the time you finally attacked him. Maybe you would leave the door open just as a tease to him. Never seeing you again before the morning broke the horizon.
You returned with a glass of water held in your hand. Sitting directly behind the trim of the doorway. Legs crossed and body leaned against the door. Steadying your breathing. Taking a long swig of your drink before finally asking him the first question of the night:
“Where’d you come from?”
“Far, far from here,” he slowly took the same position as you. Sitting directly across from you. Legs crossed and hands folded in his lap. Giving you his full attention. Making sure you were aware of how intently he would answer. His eyes darted to the side when you did not respond, “Somewhere that doesn’t even exist anymore. Lived on my father’s land with my family. Came on a boat after they…”
He paused. His jaw flexed and he swallowed hard. Like the memory was all too painful to recall. As if he was not haunted by it day and night. The screams. The massacre.
Your brows furrowed. Fighting the warmth that dared creep into your belly as he looked all too human suddenly. Not expecting such an honest answer. He had never mentioned a family before. Of course, you had noticed the ring on his finger the first night he returned to your home. It had been absent the first time you met, so it caught your eye.
“You had a wife?”
Remmick nodded in silence. Fidgeting with the ring on his left hand. Rolling his shoulders as he thought. Eyes hammered into the wood of your porch.
He was being genuine. Vulnerable in a way you imagined he had not been with anyone for a long time. It made you curious. Pulled you into him in a way you never could have predicted. A genuine want.
“What… was she like?” your voice was not above a whisper.
He smiled. Huffing a half-hearted laugh as he recalled her. “She was kind. Far too kind for a man like me,” he sighed, “Smart. Quick witted. Stood on her own. She challenged me.”
His eyes looked back up at you. Bluish grays returning like the night you had met. Glossy and sincere. Reading you.
“You… you remind me of her,” he admitted.
That made your mouth run dry. Eyes widening as you looked at him. Stomach twisting itself into a knot at the implication. It made you sick. Sick with your empathy for him. You could feel it turning to anger. Shapeshifting inside your chest to push you further away from him. It was too real. Too emotional. Too raw and human.
This would change everything. It made all those nights seem completely different. Assuming all he ever wanted was to sink his fangs into your jugular. Suck you dry of your humanity. Leave you a shell of who you were, just as he was. His desire was deeper than that. Deeper than a longing to have you sexually and physically. But to have you as his.
You scoffed as you looked to the side. Your hand was shaking as it wrapped around the slippery glass. Bringing it to your lips. Unable to look him in the eyes.
“I didn’t mean—“
You held your hand up to stop him. Exhaling with an uncertain smile. Shaking your head, trying your hardest to say something. But all you could do was try to catch your breath.
Remmick’s hand rubbed the back of his neck. Realizing how this all sounded. Wondering if you even believed him. Why would you?
“Y/N—“
“Just stop,” you finally spat, eyes falling closed, “Ask me something instead.”
Remmick nodded, blinking rapidly as he stammered. A certain level of awkwardness blossoming between you. Like going on a date with a stranger. Carefully tip-toeing around the other. Watching out for the other’s foot as you waltzed the conversation. Learning new rhythms together.
“You like music?”
Such a simple question. It made you smile. Not going directly for something deep like you had. He wanted to make you comfortable once more.
You nodded, “I do.”
He smiled, “You play?”
A laugh rippled through you. Shaking your head and extending one of your hands out in front of you, “Not quite. Mama and daddy never taught me. Just had me sing the words. Said I had the prettiest voice this side the Mississippi. You know how parents are though.”
“Will you sing for me?” he innocently asked.
Embarrassment suddenly bubbled inside you. The way his eyes shined in the dark with waiting. Like he could not wait to hear your melody.
You laughed, “Oh no, I can’t— But I’ll go put my favorite record on.”
You scrambled to your feet. Trying to hide how flushed your face had become. How did he have this effect on you? You wished you could blame it on some vampiric spell. Some false hold those damn glowing eyes had casted upon you. But it was not. It could not be. What you were feeling was all too real. All too special.
Walking over to the large player centered in your living room. Turning the machine on. It groaned to life. Beginning the soft jazz tune. Piano tiles pressed eloquently by the musician. It reverberated off your thin wood walls. Finding its path out of the door so that Remmick’s ears could catch the sound.
Hesitance washed over you. You balled the cloth around your chest in your tight fist. Feeling sweat beam across your brow.
What on Earth were you doing?
You walked back over to the doorway slowly. Hand resting on the trim as you looked down at your vampiric guest. His brows were raised, soft sway of his head following along to the music.
“This was my mama’s favorite,” you sat back down. Closing your eyes and listening. Remembering the way you two would dance around the house together. Waiting for you daddy to get home from the long hours of work. It made your heart rip a little. Missing them more than you ever imagined you would. Humming quietly along.
“What happened to your parents?”
Your eyes flew open, head turning in tandem. Defenses beginning to immediately build themselves back up. You swallowed hard.
“Daddy got sick,” you sighed, “Mama died of a broken heart. At least that’s what they told me happened. I wasn’t… I wasn’t here. I had went off to discover something new, or whatever nonsense I was telling myself. Got tired of being here, now I wish I could go back to that time. With them. Just not let things end on such bad terms.”
Remmick stiffened his posture. Seeing the way tears began welling at the corners of your eyes. And suddenly, his chest ached. Ribs tightening restricting what would have been airflow. He wanted to reach out. To hold your hand in his just so you did not have to feel so alone. Not anymore. Not with him here.
Of course he would be lying if he said his initial intent was not to feed on you. Showing up late at the market and talking to the only girl standing alone. Walking you home in the dark. But despite all the chances, he found himself wanting more. Hearing your voice. Looking into your eyes. Simply existing near you. It made him feel full.
“Sorry to hear that,” his southern drawl warmed your heart.
You nodded silently. Looking out across the dark land beside your home. Remembering how their voices sounded. The way they laughed. Just the feeling of love in this place that only reminded you of how much you missed them. It made you nauseous.
But something about looking back at him made that feeling dissipate. Even if it was only for a moment. Your expression softened. Smiling at him like he was a long lost friend. It was all so... normal.
You continued the chit-chatting for several hours. Grabbing a spare blanket off your chair when the chill of the night began overtaking your home. Asking silly things. What's your favorite color? What was your favorite season? Favorite food? Most irrational fear? Ending with where you were now. Listening to him softly sing his favorite song. Your head felt like it weighed a hundred pounds. Sleepiness burrowing itself into your bones. Dragging you into the depths of the night. Eyelids drooping with the occasional elongated blink.
Remmick noticed. Of course he did. It made him smile, his voice began to lower. Not wanting to disturb you. A large yawn erupted from you once he finished. Your hand came up to rub your eyes, trying to force yourself awake. It was only a few more hours until sunrise. Only a few more hours to talk. Only a few more hours of him.
"Sorry," you apologized, eyes blinking slower than ever.
Remmick laughed. Standing to his full height on the first step of your porch. Hands patting down his pants, hiding away into his pockets. He looked up to the night sky, then back to you. "Ain't a thing to be sorry about," velvety tone comforting you, "I've kept you up all night. I know you need your sleep, dear."
You huffed. Lip pushing out in a pout as you sat up. Stretching, "It's just a few more hours til sunrise."
It made him pause.
Did you want him to stay? Want to keep talking and spending time together? After all these nights of rejection and denial, you opposed his departure now?
A smile took over his face. Something deep inside him tightened. "Yeah. Don't you gotta be up at sunrise?" the smile was palpable on his tone.
You whined, "Yeah, but..."
Every fiber of his being wanted to scoop you up in his arms. Carry you to your bedroom and tuck you in properly. Stay with you until he physically could not. Chained by the Sun's schedule. He would kiss you goodbye, then come back and do it all over again.
But your instincts would not allow him inside. Even if you wanted to ask him to stay. To keep singing to you. To keep smiling at you like you were the thing he had been looking for. To laugh at the embarrassing childhood stories you shared. To wrap you in his embrace even if it was just til morning.
You frowned. Barely able to keep your eyes open. Vision blurring slightly, but you could see him and that was what mattered to you right now.
Remmick removed his hands from his pants, sighing as he braced himself to take a seat closer to your doorway. Hazy eyes followed his every move. Part of his face hidden by the frame. He looked over to you, closer than you had been since the first night you met. The invisible barrier between you looming. “How bout I stay til you fall asleep?”
You smiled, shifting so it was easier to look at him. Both of you pretended to not notice the small bit of your hand and leg that passed the threshold. “I’d like that,” you closed your eyes once more.
The soft hum from his chest lulled you to slumber. A familiar melody that you could not place. It sept into your bones like it wanted to be a part of you. You mumbled a form of ‘goodnight’ that only someone begging for rest could.
While you had no idea, Remmick stayed beside you until the very last moments. Playing with fate and risking cooking himself alive. But it was worth it to see you so peaceful.
~
You woke up with a crick in your neck. The sun had fanned across your face causing you to wake from your short slumber. There was no trace of the night before. But there were some wildflowers on the top step. Pinks and purples that had clearly been hand picked. A beautiful makeshift bouquet.
It made you smile. Getting up to grab them. Stretching your legs that had grown stiff from the awkward position you had fallen asleep in. The stems of the flowers still had dirt on them. You walked inside holding them up to your nose to inhale the sweet aroma. Grabbing a vase from under the sink and putting some water in it. Placing them on your window sill.
You spent the day cleaning up around your home. Sweeping up the debris that had blown inside from where you slept with the door open. Chasing down all the stray bugs that landed on the warmest parts of your home. Finding yourself singing for the first time in months. A new pep in your step as you swayed and waltz around your home. Singing songs that you had thought you forgot the words to. Something renewed inside you.
The chores that normally took minimal effort dragged you down. Deciding you needed a proper rest before the night ahead. If you had another night like before, there was no way you would recover. Denying sleep was easier said than done. You crawled into your bed. Blanketing yourself. Curling up under it and laying your head onto your pillow. Dozing off quicker than ever before…
Cold hands wrapped around your torso. His body pressed firmly into yours from behind. Meeting the curve of your spine perfectly. His raspy breaths fanned over your throat. Your hand was tangled in his hair. Sweat ridden and soft. The other laid atop his on your bare belly. Your neck was craned so that your lips were pressed into his cheek. Moaning under your breath.
His cock sheathed in and out of you. Clapping of skin echoing throughout the room.
“Ain’t no man ever going to fuck you this good,” Remmick’s thick accent dripped down your skin. Reverberating off the walls so that it was all you could hear.
You moaned in response. Nodding in agreement as you planted a kiss to his cheek. His lips caught yours. Messy and uncoordinated.
“I’ll never let another touch you again. You’re mine, you hear me? Only mine. If another man even looks at you with those damn lustful eyes, I’ll rip his throat out,” he growled deeply. Voice mixing with a far deeper and evil sounding one. You could feel his fangs on your throat now. Pushing, but not puncturing. Never ceasing his assault on your insides. His claws dug into your skin now. Causing your tender flesh to puff up under the harsh blades.
“I’ll never let you leave,” he promised.
Raring back with a snarl—
… You woke up in a cold sweat. Slick between your legs a prominent temperature difference. Feeling like you could barely catch your breath.
How long had you been out?
You sat up and stretched. Looking out your window and seeing nothing but darkness. It made your heart drop.
Had you wasted this much time?
You rushed to the bathroom and peeled off your ruined panties. Relieving yourself before running into your living room. Staring at your front door. Trying to compose yourself. You ran a hand through your hair before opening the door.
Greeted by his back. He turned to meet you. Pupils darker than normal and lips parted. His posture was slouched. Nostrils opening and closing as he scanned up and down your entire body.
You realized what was happening. Forgetting that he had super natural abilities. Senses far more honed than yours. He could sense it. Sense the arousal.
“Hi, Remmick,” you pressed your body against the doorframe. Faking nonchalance. Like your core was not begging to be touched by him. And your cheeks were not flushed.
One of his eyebrows arched, eyes meeting yours, “Good morning, sweetheart. You been sleeping the whole evening?”
You snorted awkwardly, “Y-Yeah. Didn’t mean to, just kinda dozed off.”
Remmick smiled, “Dream anything good?”
You choked on air. Folded hand coming up to cover your mouth as you coughed. Eyes wide and skin tingling. Closing your eyes and finally taking a deep breath. Clearing your throat and smiling.
How did he know?
“Maybe I did,” you teased, sliding slowly down the wall. Sitting in the same position you had taken the night before. Fluttering your lashes up at him with a soft pout of your lip. Tilting your head to fame ignorance as if you were not completely uncovered beneath your nightgown.
Remmick chuckled. Restraining himself by scouting the area around you. Taking a deep inhale, “I can smell ya.”
You swallowed hard. Biting your lip and giggling.
"Smell between your legs. Y'r body is practically begging for me, baby," he smirked.
You grinned at him. Hiding your surprise for him. Just behind a thin layer of soft fabric. Feeling like you were vibrating from excitement. Unsure of the last time you had pleasured yourself. Having to take care of things on your own took priority over anything else, especially pleasures. Usually by the end of the day you were far too worn to even try.
Remmick lowered himself to meet the wood of your porch. Crawling over to you, close enough that he could feel your breath catch in your throat. Staring at you like he could pounce any second. Hunting you. Your scent was taking over his mind. How could you smell so good?
“Please, miss,” his knees dug into the boards of your porch. His fingers were interlocked like he was praying. Drool poured from the side of his mouth. Eyebrows upturned and blue eyes glossy. “I need it. I’ve been patient, please. Let me in,” he sobbed.
Your nightgown hiked up your thighs. One knee propped up, the other spread open. Tucked perfectly behind the threshold. Just out of his reach.
The breeze captured your soft cotton fabric in a waltz. Flowing higher until there was nothing left to hide. Remmick’s eyes widened. Lips parting with a huff of shock. All the air being punched out of his lungs. Contorting his brows as his eyes raked up your body. Drool coating every bit of skin on his chin. His adam’s apple bobbed aggressively in his throat.
No panties.
Exposing your core to him in its entirety. Legs positioned so he could see all of you. Glistening in the soft glow of the night. Practically begging for his touch.
“M-Ma’am,” he swallowed, “Please.”
It was desperate and simple. Being unable to form pleas. Only driven by the throb between his legs. Every fiber of his being needed you, even if he did not get his own release. You were all he needed.
You smirked. Watching the way his eyes tracked any minor movement you made. Your hand began to roam down your body, squeezing at your chest along the way. Giving him a taste of a moan, just under your breath. Nipples pebbling behind the soft fabric. Hand traveling its way down to your exposed core. Teasing fingers against your slit. Collecting your slick on them before beginning to circle your clit. Your body jerked and a whine escaped you.
There was no hiding the way Remmick's pants grew tighter. Especially when you pushed one finger inside your hole. Slowly pumping it in and out. Deliberate movements to tease him. Anything to watch the tent in his pants pitch itself higher. His palms flattened on his thighs. Drool pouring in long lines from his lips as he watched. Breathing in your scent.
"Let me touch you," Remmick's tone was desperate, "I wanna please you, darlin'. J-Just a taste of ya', that's all I need."
Your head rested against the door frame. Lips falling open as your swirled your clit once more. Feeling the familiar knot in your belly tighten. You would be lying if you said you did not want his touch. Knowing his mouth would be sweet euphoria against your core. But you also knew the likelihood of him taking more than a taste was high.
So why not tease him?
"Remmick," you exhaled a moan.
His eyes curved. Heaving as he tried to regain his composure. Losing the battle and giving in to his urges. Palming himself through the thick fabric of his pants. Stroking what he could get his hand around, desperately needing more. Matching his movements to the rhythm of your fingers parting your lips.
You were putting on a big show for him. Slippery and sloppy sounds squelched from your center. Moans calling out into the depths of the night. Biting your lip and staring into his crimson eyes. Sweat riddled every inch of him. Scanning down his body to stare at how he pleased himself. It made your body run hot.
"Wanna see you," it was hushed, like you were embarrassed to say it.
His lashes fluttered at your request. Frantically undoing his belt and zipper. Pushing it down his thighs until his cock sprung free. Curving upward with a thick vein running along it. Tip flushed angry. Dripping already. Long fingers framed it at its base. Looking to see your reaction. It had been a long time since he used his manhood with another. Usually just jerking himself off before taking a nice slumber. Not having to show it off to anyone else.
Your face was hot to the touch. Panting as you gawked at his erection. It twitched and stared back. Whimpering when Remmick finally wrapped his hand around it and tugged. Squeezing around the tip before beginning his harsh pace. His voice left him, making no noise as he pleasured himself.
“Let me hear you,” breathlessly.
Remmick blew his breath out. Neck straining backwards as his nostrils flared. Suddenly too prideful.
So you stopped entirely. Flattening your hand against your thigh, pushing the fabric further down to hide your exposure from him. Looking back into your house before beginning to stand up.
“W-Wait, darlin’,” he groaned continuing to stroke himself. Rutting forward, catching himself against the wood boards with one hand. Letting out a strained moan as he looked back up at you.
You smirked. Lacing your fingers around the hem of your dress to pull it up further. Exposing yourself once more.
“I’ll be good,” Remmick sobbed, “Swear it.”
Your fingers teased back down to your slick. Spreading yourself and beginning to circle your nub. Sighing loudly. Watching as he frantically pumped his cock in hand. Gasping and groaning with a gaping mouth. Slobber fell onto the wood in a thick line. Tears glinted the corners of his eyes. His chest heaving like he could not refill his lungs. Despite not needing to breathe.
It made you feel powerful. Having an ancient being down on the ground begging for even a moment with you. Turning a beast into a whining boy with a simple raise of clothing. The knot in your belly was growing tights. Moments away from ripping itself apart.
“Please, baby. I’ll fill you up real good. Stretch you nice and wide. Won’t cum til you tell me to. Not til you’re ready, PLEASE! I’ll even clean up afterward. Anything to be able to taste you, love,” his voice was completely ragged.
You smirked, your own chest tightening when you added more pressure to your core. Soft squeaks of breath rising in octave as you approached your end.
“Pr-Prettiest song I’ve ever heard sung,” Remmick’s voice cracked. Losing his mind to pure pleasure. Saying things without thinking. Just letting his desire drip off his tongue.
Watching the way his tip flushed deeply, you knew he was close. Pre-cum beading at the tip like a crack in a dam prepared to burst.
“You gonna cum?” you scratched out. Breathy. Walls occasionally pulsing and the bottoms of your feet heating up. Your body preparing to welcome the warm embrace of your orgasm.
He nodded, throwing off a dribble of spit with it. Pumping himself as waves of pleasure rolled through him.
“I asked you a question,” you hissed. Teeth grinding together.
“Yes. I’m gonna— fuck— let me paint you, baby. Make you even more of a priceless work of art. Please,” he was losing his voice. Broken and strained. It made your walls tighten.
“Can’t let you do that, Remm,” you smirked.
A guttural whine escaped him. Eyebrows contorting and tears provided at the corners of his eyes. His claws revealed themselves. Scratching into the wood beneath his body.
“I won’t touch you ‘less you want me to. Won’t do nothing unless you ask. You can do whatever you want to me, I’ll thank you for it. Please, Y/N, let me in,” his shoulders bounced as he begged.
“Cum on the porch,” you exhaled. You were close. Too close.
Remmick sobbed, "O-Okay."
His wrist twisted around his length. Thumb rubbing over the slit and down to the little sensitive spot below his head. Mouth hung completely open repeating your name like it was his saving grace. Maybe if he said it enough you would change your mind. Or he was picturing himself inside you now. Walls fluttering around his length. Milking him of all he was worth.
His entire body seized up. Ropes of thick white shot from him onto the planks below. Grunting and panting with each jolt of his body. Bottom teeth on display as he lost all poise he had ever possessed. It sent you over the edge yourself. Your head bullied into the wooden frame. Eyes rolling back in your skull as you cried out into the night. Your walls convulsed around nothing. It made Remmick gasp watching the way your body practically begged for him.
You closed your eyes for a moment. The night was quiet. Only the sound of both your labored breaths and your own racing pulse filled the night. Your eyes traveled down to the mess he had made on the wood. Cum already beginning to dry around the edges from the cold of the night. His cock jumped occasionally. Aftershock surging through him.
Coyly, you covered yourself. Cheeks heated and lips swollen. Heart racing from the pure adrenaline that flowed through you now. Watching how Remmick wiped off his chin with the back of his hand.
Remmick tucked himself back into his pants. Wide puppy dog eyes peering up at you, he cleared his throat.
"I'd hold ya if you'd let me," Remmick half heartedly smiled. Playing off his body craving intimacy. Forcing a laugh his own body did not believe. You joined as to not make it feel awkward. Well, more than it already was.
Your palm flattened against the back of your neck. Face flushed from embarrassment. Remmick’s head was lowered, too ashamed to look at you. Not sure what to say, if there was anything to say. This took your relationship, or whatever this was, to an entirely new level. Giving something this precious to the other. It made butterflies flap in your stomach.
“This was fun,” you breathed.
Remmick quickly looked up at you. His crooked teeth displaying with his large grin. Shoulders bouncing as a laugh rolled through him. His hands cupped his face as he leaned backward. Groaning loudly before his hand ran down his face. Fingers splayed along it, trying to hide his smile. He took a deep breath, “I’m no good at this.”
You sighed, his smile was contagious, “Me neither.”
He readjusted so that his legs were crossed. Sitting directly in front of you. Elbow resting on his knee as he rested his cheek in his palm. Grinning at you. Starting your small talk like the night prior. Letting the anxieties and nerves that had formed from your intimacy to fade. Washing over you both and settling into an understanding.
~
The sun woke you as it normally did. You stared at the ceiling. Hands crossed over your abdomen casually. Thumbs fighting back and forth. Smiling at the memory of the night before.
You followed your normal routine. Keeping yourself busy, yet the tasks all seemed to last forever. Time crawling through the day. Maybe it was because you were excited for the night ahead. To see him again.
This was becoming serious. How much of your mind he had taken over. Never ending images of how the two of you would spend mundane tasks together. How he would help you do dishes. Or how he could do the manual labor that tired you out. Imagining making a meal for him each night. And how you would end every evening dancing in your living room together. His hand holding yours and the other on your hip. Record player sounding off your favorite albums. You would sing together.
And the voices in your head told you how foolish you were. There was never a world where he could be the man you daydreamed of. He was a monster. The kind that parents told their kids to ward them off.
You rolled the thoughts around in your mind the entire day. How his hands would feel on your body. Tender and gentle. Caring for you in a way only someone entirely devoted to you could. And maybe he could be. Maybe it could all be normal.
You watched the sunset from the window above your sink. Warmth fading into a calming darkness. It would not be long—
The knock came quickly. You rushed to swing the door open. Seeing him already on his knees before you. Covered entirely with sweat. Eyes glossy and pleading. He tried to smile, but a frown tugged it down. He was overcome by want. There was no doubting it.
“Y/N,” it was barely audible.
“Hi,” you exhaled.
He folded his hands together. Praying to you. Forehead pressed to his conjoined palms. Shoulders heaving as tears streamed down his face.
“Missed you so much, sweetheart. I can’t handle being apart from you,” he sobbed. Words breaking as tears rolled down his cheeks. Hands reaching out like he was asking for an offering. Eyes squinted shut and appendages shaking. Whimpering in his silent question.
It broke your heart. To see him so desperate. Broken down and small. Different than the confidence he had previously upheld. There was no more denying it.
Despite everything screaming at you to stop, you could not. Something deep inside persuaded you. Unable to explain what you were feeling, but you knew you had to. Arm extending past the threshold to touch him. Soft. Feather like as you petting his sweat ridden hair.
His body froze. Unable to believe what he was feeling. It was impossible and he was scared if he moved you would run. So he lingered in it. Labored breaths rolled through him as he closed his eyes.
Your fingertips danced down the side of his face, gently tapping his jaw to guide his eyes upward. Cupping his cheek when his bloodshot eyes met yours. He was shaking. Overwhelmed by your soft touch. His hand hovered over yours. Fighting off finally feeling you against his palm. Until you could give him the permission, he refused.
Silence laid over you like a heavy blanket. Leaving you both scared. Anxious to ruin what could be.
“Please,” he whispered, eyes closing slowly.
“Remmick,” you whispered back.
Terrified eyes peaked up at you. His lips parted and eyebrows pinched. Not expecting to be greeted by such soft eyes. You were smiling. Cheeks bulbing and nose scrunched. Nodding at him to let him know it was real. He had your permission.
He planted his lips to your wrist. Nose resting on the bone. He inhaled your scent. Eyes closed so that he could memorize it. Didn’t need to see it, just needed to know it was you. Gentle lips planted a kiss to your pulse point. Right on the veins of your wrist. Flowing with life. Something he only ever stole, never had someone given it to him like this. Heartbeat gently thumping against his lips. It reminded him of what it was like to live.
Eyes like the clouds after a harsh storm opened at you. Holding your hand tightly against his face. Nuzzling his cheek into it like he had not been touched in a millennia. Breathy whines purred in the back of his throat.
Your cheeks were beaming. Uncertainly and fear fighting for control over your body. Screaming into your ears for you to stop. You could pull away, there was still time. Before he sunk daggers into your veins. Claiming you forever. Cursed to never see the light of day again.
This all had to be a ploy. Manipulating you into giving yourself to him whole. No fight. No blood splatter. Just his teeth in your neck, or chest, or collar. Whatever place it was monsters preferred. You had to run. To hex him. To banish him back to where—
Then you heard it. Small and meek. Lips hardly touching together, like the words escaped on their own. Not spoken, just breathed. Flowing so gentle from him.
“I love you.”
Your heart lunged. Refusing to acknowledge the whisper. Letting the breeze carry it away. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you smiled at him. Lips pressed together and eyes squinting.
Taking a knee to mimic his position, more of your body was past the threshold than not. Proving you were not afraid. Yet still holding your breath. If he wanted, he could. Claws could dig into your flesh. Eyes could change, revealing his real hunger. Sharp teeth could reveal themselves, being the last thing you saw.
Instead, he pulled back. Eyes wide and lips parted. Panting. Stunned beyond words. His eyebrows pinched together. Hand not holding your wrist hovered raised. Clearly wanting to touch you more, but still keeping his distance.
You raised your own hand. Fingertips meeting his palm and cascading upward. Spreading his fingers and lacing yours through them. Hands completely flush together. Interlocked. You both stared silently. Soft skin meeting matured, rough flesh. Years of travel and wandering all felt against your palm. Natural warmth overtaking his colder nature.
He reached up to cup your cheek. Thumb rubbing small circles into the warm flesh. Like he had not felt the embrace of a human for many years. Of course he had felt the way blood still flowed. Used to the way it would spray warmth across his face when he ripped something by the throat. But not the at someone’s heart could still beat for him.
You pressed forward. Lips meeting his in a deep kiss. Leaning until your fronts were pressed together. Reaching up and wrapping your arms around his neck. Remmick’s hands wrapped around your waist to stabilize himself. Your heartbeat echoed through his empty cavity. Fast and eager.
Foreheads rested together as you caught your breath. Eyes closed too afraid to open them and it all be a dream. Or worse. Open them and see his fangs displayed and eyes glowing red.
No.
His lips pressed a chaste kiss against the tip of your nose. Clearly not ready to stop kissing you, but not wanting to force you to do anything. Gentle and feather like. Almost like it didn’t even happen. It made you blush harder than before.
Lashes fluttered open as you pulled back to meet his eyes. Seeing that his pupils were blown, drowning out the ocean of his irises. Drool puddled at the corner of his mouth. Eyebrows contorting upward as he looked between your eyes.
“Do you… want to come inside?”
His eyes lit up. Like a little kid getting something new on Christmas. Jaw hanging open in disbelief. Looking past you into your home for only a moment. Head beginning to nod before he could ever form words. Excitement sparkling in his eyes.
It made you giggle. Standing and extending a hand down to him. He was completely awestruck. Hesitating for only a moment before taking your offer. Carefully placing his hand in yours, he rose to his feet. You led him inside. It was dark and quiet. Wood boards settled loudly with his presence. You looked over your shoulder as you guided him deeper. Seeing his eyes shining like the first star of the night. Butterflies fluttering rapidly around your belly. You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth when you finally reached the door. Shaky hand reached out for the knob. No hesitation. Only want.
The door squeaked open. The moon shined in from your opened window. Painting the room in a soft whitish blue hue. You tugged him in gently behind you, turning to close the door. Your palm rested against it for a moment. You were jittery. Mouth dry and legs wobbly. Were you really going to do this?
You spun to face him. Your back rested against the door. Silence was not new between you. His eyes scaled your body. Hooded, shadowing the bit of color remaining behind his blown pupils. Lips parted as he panted. Clear erection straining against his pants.
“I’ve waited so long,” Remmick sighed, beginning to step toward you. Both palms meeting the side of your face, he leaned down and planted his lips to yours. Kissing you like a man starved of any romance. Tongue parting your lips and licking up into your mouth. He wanted you entirely, however you would let him. He would have you.
Your fingers tangled in his messy, brown locks. Wrapping the Irish curls around your digits before tugging at them. He yelped, followed by a low growl of pleasure. It made your core spark. "You like when I pull your hair?"
"Mmhmp," he mumbled into your mouth, viciously nodding.
You chuckled. Locking your fingers tightly and leading him backward. His throat bobbed and he moaned. Struggling to swallow and breathe. His fangs, now small, on display as he mouth gaped. Hands paralyzed at his sides. Falling back onto the mattress when his knees met its edge. He looked up at you. Needy. Hungry. Insanely aroused. Pushing himself up quickly, legs extended and flat.
You placed a hand on his chest, pushing him slowly. His hands surrendered as he laid flat once more. Neck strained so he could watch your every move. His lip was quivering in anticipation. Slowly, sensually, you straddled his hips. Core resting right above his erection, still not giving him the friction he so clearly desired. Both your hands flattened along his torso, rubbing up until they rested beside his head. Your body hovering above his entirely. Nose to nose, lips barely inches apart.
Your lips fell to his neck. Kissing and sucking into his pale skin. Remmick’s hand grabbed your hip. A groan flowing through his throat. Escaping from his nose. His tongue parted his lips and wetted them. Eyelashes fluttering rapidly. He could barely control himself. But he knew he had to for you. To keep you as his.
His free hand traveled up the curve of your spine. Nestling itself on the back of your skull. Cradling it as you continued working on his throat. Licking a thin line of spit along him. Daring to dip your canines against his throat. His body would buck when you did something he liked, followed shortly by a grunt.
One of your own hands began to roam down. Trailing to his clothed erection. Wrapping your hand around it and earning a low moan from him. His jaw hung open and his head craned further back.
“You let all the girls touch you like this? ‘m sure they all want to please you, don’t they?” The jealousy behind your words was drowned by how turned on both of you were.
“I ain’t been with no body since—” a guttural moan broke his sentence when you twisted your wrist around him. Pumping him through his trousers. Thumbing at the head, growing sticky through the thin fabric. He was leaking. Cock already prepared to enter you.
“N-Not gonna last long, honey,” Remmick choked.
“I know you can, Remm,” you whispered at the base of his ear. Pulling his earlobe between your teeth. His body jolted.
“Please, Y/N…“
“Tell me what you want,” you exhaled.
“J-Just want you to sit on it. Wanna feel you wrapped around me. Swear I’ll be good. Let you ride me til the end of my days. Fill you up as much as you want, then I’ll ask ya if you wanna go again,” Remmick sobbed.
You bawled the hem of your nightgown, pulling it over your head. No bra. Simple cotton panties was all that remained. He gawked at your chest. Your hands tugged at his tank top, untucking it from his pants and urging it up his torso. He sat up once more to help, throwing it into the floor. His gold chain hung around his neck. Toned body and strong arms. It made you blush.
One hand cupped your cheek, thumb running along the plump flesh. His other splayed along your bare thigh. Traveling until his fingertips met the band of your underwear. Gently circling under it, almost asking if he could remove them. He leaned forward, resting his forehead against your shoulder. Breathing hard. Kissing your skin as the hand on your cheek traveled down to your breast. Palming it, a soft groan vibrated against you. You gasped when his fingers pinched at your nipple.
You reached for his belt buckle. Slowly, almost casually, undoing it. You hooked a finger around the band where the button laid, flexing it to get his attention. Lips met his ear, “Take these off.”
Remmick nodded, lifting his hips as if you weighed nothing. Something supernatural. It made your stomach flutter and you gasped. Holding onto his shoulders before one of your hands pushed his pants down his thighs. You kissed at his neck while he shimmied them into the floor. Moaning into his skin. That was when you felt it. His cock sprung free and laid directly at your entrance. Curving towards his belly. Swollen and leaking. Irritated red from how badly he needed to finish.
His eyes doed up at you. Hands on your hips, “You’re beautiful.”
You rolled your eyes in an attempt to hide how the compliment ignited your skin. Absentmindedly shaking your head in disagreement. You smiled like you had never been told that before. And you could not remember the last time someone did say that to you. Maybe you needed to hear it.
It was intimate. To be pressed together almost entirely nude. Only the thin cotton of your panties separating you. Already ruined from how slick you were.
Remmick’s hand rounded your thigh, fingertips barely above your slit. Shaking breaths fell from you in anticipation. His middle finger found your clit and circled it slowly. Earning himself a jerk from you. Body surprised. Your nails dug into his skin. Cutting little crescents into his shoulders. He rubbed down your clothed slit, collecting the bit of juice on his fingers he could. Sighing as he looked down, “Barely touched you. You’re soaked.”
He was smiling. Wide and goofy. Excitement behind his eyes clear. His nose bumped yours, lips agonizingly close. Swiftly stealing a kiss before his hand continued to rub your panties into your core. You rocked against his touch, meticulous fingers knowing how to tease you just right. His digits hooked around the top band, “May I..?”
You nodded, beginning to lift your hips to help. But you were cut off by the sound of fabric tearing. He ripped them clean off your entrance as if they were paper. No effort. Discarding them onto the pile of clothes you had already shed.
And here you were. Completely bare and raw. Skin pressed together. Your warmth barely an inch away from his member. You never imagined you would be this vulnerable with someone. Never expected to give someone so much of yourself. Knowing Remmick would not hurt you. There was a certainty deep in your gut, even when your mind would scream at you.
“I want you so much, Y/N,” his voice slipped for a moment. Accents mixing together like he was not sure where he was or where he was going. Dazed out eyes hooded so heavily that you could barely see his irises. Lovesick sounds fell from him, sprinkling across you and leaving chill bumps in their wake.
Every inch of your body was tingling. Waiting was killing you, but everything inside you was still nervous. Then he kissed you. Fingers laying gently on the side of your neck, thumb framing your jaw. Pressing into your skin to feel the bone. Lips wrapped perfectly around yours. His other hand found its place back at your core. Slotting his middle digit into your hole. You whined and lifted your hips. Jaw dropping as a moan rippled from you. It curled inside you. Pumping it slowly, earning himself some broken whines from you.
Remmick watched your face intently. Every twitch of muscle. Each crinkle of skin. How your eyes rolled as you closed them. The drool that began pooling in your mouth from pure bliss. He was enthralled with you. Entirely.
You shifted so that you were hovering over his erection. His finger pulled away, wrapping around your thigh and holding you up. You reached forward and lined his cock up with your entrance. His lip was quivering at the contact. Drool fell from the corner of his mouth. Slowly, you lowered onto him. Allowing his head to stretch you, bouncing on it a few times before sinking all the way down. Remmick was a mess; squalling and whimpering. Composure had long since left him, only left with his desire. Twitching inside your walls. Legs shaking viciously as he tried to stabilize himself. His hands cupped your hips, nails softly poking into your back. Your mouth hung open, staring him in the eyes without a word. You had not moved yet. Waiting. Needing to adjust before you could continue.
His head limply fell to the side as he stared up at you. Tongue parting his lips and wetting them. His palms cascaded up your back. Simply wanting to feel every bit of skin you were offering. Tracing your spine and pulling you a little closer. Your fronts were nearly flush now. Breasts pressing into the speckles of chest hair. Cold chain a shock against your far too hot skin. Lips fell against the space where your shoulder and neck met. Open mouthed kisses peppered up your throat. Tongue flattening against your pulse before sucking a soft purple bruise into your skin. Teeth pressed into your flesh; not sharp, simply normal.
“P-Please,” he begged, “Need you to move, h-honey.”
You rolled your hips. Causing his entire body to jut forward. A loud moan erupted from him. Hands tightening their grip on you as you began to bounce up and down on his length. Sloppy and obscene sounds filled the silent space. Mixing with his breathless groans like it was a symphony you were orchestrating together. His cock filled you perfectly. Curving and brushing against the spongy spot deep within your core. It made your legs feel weak. Your nails dug into his shoulders. Using the muscular skin as a brace to help lift yourself higher. Your breasts practically pressed into his face.
His body stiffened. Lips parted and teeth bared. Brow knitting into itself as he focused on you. He was close and you knew it. The knot in your own belly was tightening. Rubbing your sensitive clit against the thick curly hair along his pubic bone. You quickened your pace, slamming onto his lap over and over.
Remmick threw his head back, showing off his throat. Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. Sweat glistened against every inch of your bodies. His chest was heaving. Then he came undone. Wrapping his arms around you as he violently thrusted up into you. Hips seizing upward with each rope he shot inside you. Continuing to fuck every last drop as deep into you as possible. Whining and sighing over and over. His forehead fell against your shoulder, “Told ya I wouldn’t last…”
You kissed the side of his head, smiling widely. Beginning to roll your hips at an agonizing pace. Remmick cried out, hot breath fanning across your skin. His head sprung up to look at you. Eyes upturned and glossy. A hint of confusion across his brow. He was shaking with each thrust. Half-soft cock captured inside your tight walls. Sensitive. Overstimulated.
“Y/N—“
You pressed a finger to his lips, “You can go another round.”
It was not a question. It was a command. His body fought itself. Shaking his head in disagreement, morphing into a nod of agreement when you moved up and down again. His fingertip snaked between your bodies, finding your clit. Circling it to help get you to your end. Rutting his hips every time your walls would spasm. He sighed loudly. His senses were in overdrive. Able to smell how close you were. Sound of your heartbeat rang in his ears. Blood flowing hot under your skin. It was all getting to him.
Before you even realized, you were on your back. Remmick had flipped you over, pinning you under his body. Arms stretched out and resting beside your head. He was panting. Drool came off his lips in a thick line. Dripping along your collar and chest. Your eyes had to be bulging out of your head, you looked up at him so aggressively. Shocked and surprised.
Remmick’s hands ghosted up the sides of your thighs. Gripping the curve of both your knees and putting them around his waist. You could feel his cock stretching you once more. Tip prodding at the entrance of your folds. Barely dipping in over and over. Still a little flaccid, but he would be ready to go again in no time.
Your entire body jumped when his thumb met your clit again. Perfectly laying pressure on it, circling it. Your neck strained backward. Calling out his name as your walls spasmed occasionally. Fluttering lightly around his tip. His face contorted tightly. Nostrils flaring repeatedly.
Throat tightening, your lungs struggled to fill. Heart racing laps around your chest. Your heels dug into his lower back as you grinded down on his tip. The band inside you snapped. Completely unraveling from his touch. Calling out loudly, moaning as your walls convulsed around just the tip. Remmick’s brows arched high upon his forehead. Lips parted and drool falling onto your cunt as he watched. It was a sight like nothing he had ever seen before. The way your breasts bounced. How your throat bobbed while you said his name. And the cherry on top, watching your pussy milk him. Begging for more, needing him. Only him.
“Wow,” Remmick breathlessly sighed, “Didn’t know they made women like you.”
He leaned forward. Nose to nose with you. Eyes shining from the moonlight. You were panting, gently running your hands up his chest. Framing his face and pulling his lips to yours again. Deep and passionate. All the words you could not say were captured between your mouths.
Remmick rolled his hips and slid right back inside you. You gasped, nails digging into his cheeks as you looked into his eyes. His brows laid flat upon his brow. Eyes a little hooded. Almost waiting permission before he continued.
You kissed him again, “Fuck, Remm. Your cock… it’s perfect.”
The air caught in his throat. Lip quivering as he smiled uncontrollably. “This pussy’s what’s perfect,” he punctuated by thrusting into you again, “Like it was made for me.”
“It was,” you whined when he started pistoning his hips.
It was animalistic. How he fucked you now. Growling and grunting like a charging bull. Skin smacked loudly. His balls hitting your ass over and over. Full and ready to empty inside you once more. And your cunt welcomed him like it was home. Pathetic whines knocked loose from you every time his hips met yours. You moaned his name. Scratching down his broad back. Muscles catching against your nails.
His forehead rested on yours. Fucking himself to completion once more. Your hole overflowed with a mixture of your juices. Aftershocks still prominent. You went a little limp. Letting his weight settle on you. Heavier than he looked.
He kissed your cheek. Thanking you over and over under his breath. Cock softening inside you.
You grabbed one of his hands and led it down your body. Running it along your soaked folds. Cocking a brow at Remmick.
“You said you’d clean up after,” you cooed with a hint of condescension.
Remmick’s blue eyes widened at you. Lips parted and panting. A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, “Ma’am…”
“Go ahead,” you gestured with your hand.
He kissed your lips once more. Beginning a trail down your body. Leaving small kisses in his path before he got to your core. His breath fanned over your leaking opening. Your scents combined, it made his eyes roll back in his head. His hands held onto each of your thighs. Keeping you spread open before him. He flattened his tongue along your slit. Licking a heavy stripe up your sensitivity. Your back arched and your head was thrown back into the mattress. Moaning and pushing yourself closer to his mouth.
His tongue began to prod your hole. Tasting the mixture of your juices. His seed and your release, it was like a delicacy for him. Never had he tasted something so divine. He moaned while lapping every drop your body could give him. Tongue swirling your clit occasionally. Your hands tangled in his hair. Tugging and gasping when you felt your walls begin to pulsate again.
“My girl,” Remmick growled into your cunt. Claiming an ownership that was not really his, but it made you swell with joy. To mean so much to another.
You were unbelievably sensitive already. He would have you screaming his name in no time. His sharp tongue pleasured you like he was created for you. Heartbeat drummed heavily against your ears.
“Let me have it. Wanna taste you coming undone, sweetheart,” he said between licks.
That was all it took. You were shaking and bucking against his mouth. Eyes squinted shut and mouth hung open wide. Moaning his name loudly. Almost screaming it to the heavens. Soft repetitive ‘yes’s rolled through his tongue. Working you through your post orgasmic haze. Letting you come down slowly.
Remmick looked up at you from between your legs. Eyes sparkling and pupils blown. A smile broke across his face, crawling back up so that he could lay beside you. Hooking an arm around your body and planting a kiss to the top of your head. And you felt… happy. A real deep down happiness like you were right where you belonged.
You laid your head on his chest. Lack of heartbeat a little alarming, but there was something underneath. A force beyond life itself. Weakly pulsing past his sternum. A flare that needed fanned. As if it had just been sparked once more.
He held you like you were the most delicate thing. As if he was afraid he would hurt you if he was not careful. One of his hands rubbed up and down your arm. Rhythmically petting you.
Remmick thought about how much his time with you had changed him. Awaking something long gone from his soul. How you made him smile more than he had in a long time. Never had he had such a connection with someone. Not while he was alive or undead. No longer did he crave the embrace of his final breath. Longing for never having to suffer again. But with you, maybe the suffering was worth it all. Possibilities he had long given up on returning to his mind. Your warm body pressed into his side. Breath fanning down his cold chest. Everything he could ever want was in his grasp.
“Could you ever love me?” it was pathetic sounding. Guards disbanded entirely. Handing you what remained of his heart. Allowing you to do with it as you wished.
You blinked as you arched to look up at him. Darting your eyes between his. Examine each scar and blemish. Reading behind his eyes. Barely catching moonlight from the window that you would have to board up before he could stay. Could you do this for the rest of your life? Pledge yourself to him. Sunset to sunrise. Every night for the last month had been dedicated to him already.
You eternity laid with you now.
And it was him.
“I can.”
