Decades Challenge

“Shut it!” She stood up and slammed her hands on the table, producing a thundering bang. If looks had been able to kill, no one would’ve left this table alive.

(I’m not even sure if I’ll ever reach this point in the story, but it’s one of my favourite scenes ahah.)

Hey! Can I have 23. for Juniper and 10, 14. for Truus?

Hey! Thank you for sending these questions! I love talking about my characters haha.

My answers are under the cut because I fear this is going to be a looong post.

Juniper

23. Trying to court/seduce someone.

Haha, I’m not sure why, but this question in combination with Juniper felt very funny to me? Anyway, Juniper trying to seduce/court someone… here we go!

As a teen, when she partially seduced Ellis II (I mean, he certainly contributed, too) she was a lot more straightforward than she would be now. We all know those giggly teenage girls, right? She was among them when it came to Ellis, haha.

Now, she’d be a lot more subtle. I think she’d mostly just show a lot of (genuine) interest in whatever the person in question likes to talk about, smile somewhat uncontrollably, and “accidentally” touch them a lot. Until she notices they like her back, which is the point she’d drop more obvious hints. She’d always wait for the other to take the “real” initiative, though, because she lives in the 1900s and it’s not socially acceptable for women to make the first move :p

Truus

10. When they feel they are in danger.

When Truus is in danger, a sort of icy calmness takes over. Where a lot of people would panic and lose their common sense in a dangerous situation, Truus just feels her heartbeat accelerate – but her mind is almost more clear than it would be in a normal situation. She’s the first person most people turn to in a dangerous or stressful situation, because she’s most capable of making a weighed-out decision.

So pretty much, she keeps her calm and tries to hide her shaking hands from everyone around her.

14. When something pisses them off.

Oh gosh. If Truus is really pissed off, you don’t want to be near her.

She has a pretty quick temper, and things annoy her very easily. She was a nightmarish toddler with constant temper tantrums, ahah. Though as she aged and got a bit wiser, she learned to control her temper a bit, only occasionally exploding. She mastered the art of keeping her temper in check during her mid-teens, when her peers were at their most irritable phase in life. It became rather rare for her to lose her temper at that point.

Still, that doesn’t mean she can’t be pissed off! Most of the time she’ll just take a deep breath and, just like when she’s in danger, try to hide her shaky hands (and arms when she’s really pissed) from everyone else. That doesn’t mean she’s successful in hiding it though, so most people just kind of leave her be when they notice she’s angry. It’s especially noticeable because her left eye twitches, which, in turn, makes her even more angry because she can’t control the twitch.

So, um, the few very rare times (very rare as in: once every 10 years) that she does lose it, she’s just about ready to murder the one who managed to make her so angry. She’d never actually murder someone, of course, but she probably could if she really wanted to at that moment. She doesn’t physically attack someone, but her expression (and yelling) is enough to make almost everyone back off.

9. What is your favorite platonic relationship between your OCs?

A relationship between 2 Decades Challenge characters who haven’t even been born yet, lmao. But for currently introduced OCs: Margo and Claude. They’re great friends enemies, I love them, and this is seriously making me consider returning to my ‘80s save. (I still have 3 posts in my drafts, lol.)

10. What is your favorite familial relationship between your OCs?

Juniper and Cecil! They’re not officially family, but they’ve lived together for so long that I consider them to be family now, lol. If the 1900s had been more progressive they would’ve been in-laws (kind of?) anyway!

I haven’t posted nearly enough scenes with them, but they have a great relationship. They talk a lot, Juniper supports Cecil, and Cecil supports Juniper. I think June’s the only one who knows the full story of Cecil’s childhood; not even Will knows as much as she does.

11. What is your favorite romantic relationship between your OCs?

Ahahah-- I’ve had a bit of an OTP for some time now, but it won’t be revealed for some time to come. Then my second favourite is another relationship that hasn’t really been revealed yet! Of the presently known relationships, I think I’ll have to go for Truus and Wim. Despite their rocky start (and Truus’ being an arse to Ans), I think they’re a great example of a healthy relationship!
