god, this was humiliating. she'd told him numerous times about tonight, and yet, here she was, over an hour after their reservation time, still waiting for the guy to show up. texts unanswered, calls sent to voicemail... nothing. she shouldn't even have had to be the one planning this whole thing in the first place; after everything she'd done for him over the course of their relationship, the least he could do was plan a birthday dinner for her. but, of course, like always, he'd managed to sink past lows she hadn't realized were possible.
it was one thing to not put any effort into planning something for her, but to not even show up? he'd officially hit a new bottom. it was time to toss in the towel and give up -- at least, until tomorrow, when he apologized, and she would wind up falling for it, like always, starting the cycle all over again. "excuse me? can i just... get the check for my wine? ...and a slice of chocolate cake, to go? thanks." well, at least the waiter seemed capable of listening to her.
