Rarely seen....
PHILLIPPINE SEA (June 14, 2020) -- United States Navy Los Angeles-class, nuclear-powered fast attack submarine, USS Asheville (SSN 758), transits alongside U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) during a submarine familiarization (SUBFAM) training event.
The SUBFAM was conducted so Blue Ridge’s crew could observe the characteristics of a submarine and how it looks both acoustically and visually while in the vicinity of the ship.
Immediately afterwards, true to form, the submarine disappeared beneath the waves once again....continuing on its mission....and returning to its traditional role in the “silent service.”
