Polycystic ovary syndroom

PCOS may be one of the causes of being infertile or subfertile. Women with PCOS can have an irregular menstruation/amenorrhoe, hyperadrogenism and/or more than 12 cysts in an ovarian. A woman can only be diagnosed for PCOS if she has 2 out of this 3 symptoms. The treatment for PCOS is by fighting the symptoms. OAC or other kind of hormone substitution can be given to provide a regular menstruation. Those women are more likely to be obese due to being insulin resistance. Obese women will be advised to lose weight, since losing 5-10% will help them to be a little more fertile. If getting pregnant can not be achieved in the natural way, Clomid can be given. Clomid is an anti-estrogen, which blocks your estrogen receptors, causing your pituitary to produce more FSH and LH to stimulate the ovulation. If this method doesn't help, FSH substitution can be provided to stimulate the ovulation.
