Honestly, my favorite faction in The Outer Worlds has got to be Sublight. Everyone else is like ‘we’re good guys’ but then they turn out to have a Dark Secret, or they’re just another corporation and thus can’t be good by default.
Sublight doesn’t try to hide that they’re underhanded scoundrels, smugglers, and thugs; and I can at least respect them for that.
Not to mention their armors just plain look cool.
The Outer Worlds actually names its NPCs in conversation, even when the player doesn’t see them labeled as such. Two NPCs (each titled ‘Sublight Employee’) have this conversation in Fallbrook:
Whight: Hey, Cass. Knock knock!
Cass: Go away, Whight.
Whight: That’s not how the game works. I say “knock knock” like I’m on the outside of a door. And you say…
Cass: I swear to the Architect I will punch your lamps out.
Whight: Oh, uh… having a rough day?
Cass: I lost a shipment out for delivery. Barely made it out… Marauders got Keeley.
Whight: Oh, Catherine is going to flay the skin from your fingers.
Cass: I know.
(Punch him in the other eye)
