#SubtlyMiddleAged
The below post is a lie, because there was one other thing of note that I did today….I went to Bikram Yoga. Now for those of you who have never been #blessed with this experience, let me warn you: uncomfortable heat mixed with old men in spandex mixed with exercise. Every girl's dream!
Anyways, this reminded me of the sad fact that over this break I have become subtly middle aged (#subtlymiddleaged). Macalester's 6 week long winter break provides great opportunities for young people to go home, kick back, start to drown in their misery, and spend way to much time with their parents. Which leads me a to segment of ze blog that I like to call: MY DESCENT INTO #FLITRY #FOURTY #THRIVING (or things I have done that make me feel old):
1. I have pined away for a sequel to the Red Tent
2. I spent an afternoon driving around small town Vermont listening to NPR with my parents (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and Car Talk)
3. I spend an afternoon driving around New England with my dad and his boss listening to (you guessed it) NPR (Fresh Air)
4. On multiple occasions I have listened to the Barenaked Ladies while doing a puzzle
5. I spend my most recent Friday night watching Parenthood off Apple TV with my parents
6. I spent my most recent Saturday night at a youth hockey game surrounded by aggressive hockey parents
7. I picked out Christmas cards
8. I used a Windows computer
9. I ate a meatloaf (see below)
10. I am currently listening to my parents pick out a Futon
11. I read books by both Agatha Christie and Amy Tan
12. I went to a public library for fun
13. I went to Bikram yoga (see below)
14. I have been to numerous matinees of movies with my parents
15. I shopped at Costco
16. I drank a single glass of champagne (note: before 8PM) on New Year's
17. I fashionably sported a new sweater from Ann Taylor
18. I talked about taxes with my father
19. I used Vick's Vapo Rub
20. I watched Homes and Gardens TV. A lot.
If I start going to PTA meetings and/or church, kindly put me down. However- things are starting to look up, as I recently watched an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians AND LIKED IT.
