Miss Jackson: Interview and Performance
Better late than never: Check out this "interview" and performance by enigmatic Birmingham collective, Miss Jackson. They are playing TONIGHT (2.26.14) at Bottletree... So check this out: The song is haunting (think recent, weird PJ Harvey) and and the "interview" is a hoot -- the band only responded to my questions in writing. The full podcast of this episode of Blood on the Knobs (which also features and interview and performance from Through The Sparks) will be up shortly. TONIGHT: BOTK pays tribute to Pavement!
This week each of Substrate Radio's DJ's are paying tribute to artists that have played an influential role in their musical lives.
I could have gone in any number of directions with this... But Pavement became the right choice for a number of reasons -- mainly because the band's perfect synthesis of melody, noise, lyricism, history, attitude, and humor seemed tailor-made for me and my best friends. We loved many bands but Pavement belonged to us.
So expect a healthy, heaping of personal Pavement favorites this evening. As usual, the show starts at 7pm CST on www.substrateradio.com. You can also listen on your phone or tablet with the TuneIn app (which I highly recommend).
