So, I had a subtenant in my student apartment this summer, while I was back home. He had a dog but I was okay with it. When I came back I was expecting that there might be some dog damage. But there was only some scratch marks on the window frame, nothing more. I docked the paint from his deposit, no problem. It was the things that the guy himself did that still annoy me to no ends.
Firstly, when we came here, the smell was awful. Sickly cloying smell, sort of what babies smell like but amplified by 100. I've never ever bought air freshened before, but now I had to. I just couldn't stand being inside the apartment without.
Then, nearly all of the dishes he had used had been washed poorly and had to be re-washed so they could actually be used (yuck!) And there were dishes, pots and pans mainly, that weren't mine, meaning he had used other peoples dishes from the common kitchen. I sneaked them back in the middle of the night because it was so embarassing.
He hadn't cleaned this place too well either. All the mattresses had stains that had to be washed out. The floor was full of something, I don't even know what, like bread crumbs but not. The fridge smelled sharply like mold and there was actually a dirty spoon under it. There were ketchup and soy sauce stains on the wall near the fridge area. I still haven't found all the utensils I know I had in here. ALL of my single portion food containers are either broken or missing (I had like 8 of them) and I now only have large ones and tiny ones.
He told me he used up all my pepper so he bought a new one. How kind. Now how about replacements for dishcloths, dishwashing brushes, scrubbing sponges, burned out lamps, toilet paper and kitchen towels he used up and the mop that he destoyed? What I have here instead is a whole bunch of chemical cleaners that he got that he clearly hasn't used (the place being in the condition it was) and which I will also not be using thank you very much.
But the very last straw right now is that he hasn't done his notification of the change of address in time. So I keep getting his fucking mail in here and having to deal with that fucking mail almost daily. I wish nothing more than to just get rid of the whole episode but no, his mail makes sure that it sticks around. And he even wants to come and pick up his letters because returning them via post office is too slow!
