“ Tired?” brow raised in question at the half-hearted excuse that were given. Granted, he knew very well why the other was tired. Bram had put them both through their paces the night before. A part of him was sure to be understanding, but that was last night. This morning at this moment, Samuel was just like everyone else on the field, as was he. “ So do you think your enemy that is about to strike you down will care that you are tired?” he posed, lifting a finger to silence the other before he could give a response. Arms clasped behind his back as his eyes drifted toward the other recruits.
“We are all tired. It isn’t a reason for slacking. Isn’t a reason for becoming distracted. Because when a fight happens, when you face down an enemy that either weld a sword or magic. It, not just you; you are fighting for the person to the right and to the left of you. For the person behind you, for our Queen.” his gaze drifted back towards the young man. He told him it would be hard, that he wouldn’t go easy on him. This wasn’t a game. Bram was a solider, a warrior. It’s been his whole life. He didn’t want this position, never asked for it, but you didn’t exactly tell the Queen no. And he would be damn if those who trained under him were the reason for some sort of failure or shortcoming on his part.
“You said it was a mistake, fine. “ motioning for the young man to step forward. Bram reaches for his own sword minus his shield. “ Show me what you’ve learned today.”
