The Minamori sisters, Shizuka and Chise, invited Marcelita (Elenita's little sister) to train with them at their family dojo at their place. After some warm-ups. Marcelita and Chise grab their bokken swords while Shizuka uses her father's katana in order to practice "Suburi". Suburi is used as a warm up before actual practice begins, usually done in sets of ten, though sometimes sets of 100 are used. Suburi serves to loosen the wrists and elevate heart rate Much of aiki-ken bears little similarity to other modern sword arts. Rather than learning to "fight" with swords, the primary purpose of aiki-ken is to magnify errors in one's aikido technique, and to give the student an opportunity to apply the principles of aikido in different situations. While Elenita has fun at the beach with her friends, Marcelita practices and practices with the Minamori sisters in spite of the horrible heatwave we're suffering these days.
