I haven't been too active on Tumblr lately. I've been working on other projects and focusing more on my main blog. I have rediscovered an underused SEO technique to drive more traffic to your website. It involves Twitter. I have used Twitter (you can follow me here)to drive some traffic to my blog. Mostly making random posts and trying to get my followers involved. I have used keywords and hashtags to improve the visibility of my posts, but only sparingly. For those of you who don't know, the hashtag looks like this: #. It's placed immediately in front of a word you want to be searchable. What I rediscovered is that using hashtags at random on words you think are important really doesn't do much to improve clicks on your links or retweets of your tweets. But there is a way increase these actions by not only your followers but by everyone using Twitter. Use geotargeted hashtags. That is, put a hashtag in front of a city, state or country name. You'll get better click through rates on your links, more retweets and more followers. What does this mean to your SEO strategy? It means that your social media engagement will improve and search engines, like Google, are placing more emphasis on social media now than in the past. More retweets and traffic to your website means higher rankings for your websites and Twitter posts. SERPs are all about exposure and capturing a spot on that first page to getter organic search engine traffic. More traffic means more sales. Keep checking back and at our main blog for more great info. I'll be posting some more QR code videos soon too.
