Life Without Buildings - Any Other City (2001).........Probably one of the best band to come out of Glasgow in a long time since Orange Juice, JAMC, Teenage Fanclub and Josef K. Unfortunately they only released this one proper studio album and called it quits. Expected some great stuffs from them but very short lived. But at least they left us with this one great album to enjoy. Many have criticized Sue Tompkins childish vocals but it’s her vocals that really captivates me and add that fresh and playfulness in their music. In fact when I first heard her voice Clare Grogan of Altered Images (also Glasgow origin) came to my mind. Both has that very similar childlike skittering vocal style that is so unique that no one could duplicate. Surprised no one mentions Clare in their comparison, but their styles are very similar. This album is really one of a kind and very underrated.
