Nothing I add could possibly make this moment any funnier.
The gems may be freaking out, and it’s hilarious, but to be fair, Pearl is right. There really is a lot of Pink Diamond in the other Roses.
They’ve got her enthusiasm for all life
Her kindness
Her... let’s just come out and say it. It’s her DTF attitude.
Greg!
I think Steven’s brain is overloading.
“So, Ste-Ven, how have you been?”
“I’ve been doing great! I used to have a lot of trouble figuring out my place in the universe because of who my mom was and what she did. But that’s all in the past now! I know exactly who I am and I don’t have any issues about my mom anymore!”
“Hold that thought, Ste-Ven.”
.
.
“Now, what is it, you were saying?”
Welp
There goes any chance of Steven sleeping tonight.
She really does look exactly like Steven’s mom, except her skin is just a shade darker.
When Pearl pictured Pink Diamond disguising herself as a Quartz, was she imagining this specific Rose Quartz? I’m going to have to ding her some points for plagiarizing her gemsona.
Wow, you are just... a walking Trigger, aren’t you?
This specific thing - the fact that Rose Quartz is dead - is an issue that Steven really does have to deal with now that Change Your Mind has happened.
Before, the big nexus (one of them, anyway) of Steven’s confused feelings about his mom was the fact that she might still be a part of him. He carries her gem, which in gem terms means he might as well be her. Naturally, that lead to all kinds of questions about what Steven even is, and how responsible he is for everything Rose left behind.
We’ve moved past that, but now there is this entirely new truth that Rose Quartz is dead. She’s dead, and she died so that Steven could live. Now Steven is Rose Quartz’s legacy, and that carries with it an entirely new kind of weight all on its own. It’s not fair that Steven has to shoulder that responsibility, but it’s inescapable.
It’s certainly not something that gets any easier by looking at three distorted reflections of his own mother, that’s for sure.
