It’s about time I made a new grimoire after losing a lot of my posessions a couple of years ago so I’m participating in the 2020 Grimoire Challenge hosted by https://grimoirechallenge2020.tumblr.com/ .
I’ll be using #SufiGrimoire as my personal tag and the #GrimoireChallenge2020, @grimoirechallenge2020 to tag for the challenge.

Day 4: Goal
To create a living document & tradition. A book which is beautiful, practical and which breathes.
This Grimoire will not be a textbook or almanac but a commonplace of magical knowledge which will grow in size, depth and complexity over my lifetime.
The book I ordered for my Grimoire finally arrived yesterday, which means I’ve been able to start transferring content from my electronic draft into the book.
I love how it looks and feels, its’ exactly the energy I was going for.
For my @grimoirechallenge2020 I’ve been making steady progress with the prompts too an I’m looking forward to transcribing what I have into my hard copy soon.
Day 10:
This was a really useful excercise for me. I got to do a lot of thinking and took some notes. The rules are still quite loose and I don’t think I have a full list yet so I put the ones I came up with into my Grimoire with space to stick in a page extention.
- Do no harm
-Take no shit
-No vengeance work
-No love spells or deception
- Always seek consent from “target” when doing spells or divination.
Day 11:
I tend to use an almanac so this one wasn’t for me :)
Day 12:
I’ve compiled some sufi quotes, quotes from Ursula K. LeGuin and some of my own thoughts so go over and refine. I may just select some which are particularly evocative and put them on a 2 page spread at the start of Chapter 5: Principles of magic with some nice illustrations.
Day 13: I’ll be merging this with Day 12 as I got a lot of good material for this from my quotes search.
Day 14: I decided to keep this one simple. There is a huge amount of symbolism and content within the quote I’m using for this prompt within my faith & mystic tradition.

So this week was really fun and interesting.
On day 6 I created a draft for 2 pages. 1 was the solar wheel of the year with small summaries of each festival. the other was the Islamic months and festivals (which get 11 days earlier every year so don’t fit the wheel). I also made a chart to show when each Islamic festival will fall in the Gregorian calendar for the next few years. And finally a mini treatise on the relationship between Solar and Lunar conceptions of & ways of measuring time from a spiritual perspective.
Day 7 & 8 & 9: I wrote out my the names I have (My use name, My devotional name and my true name according to LeGuin’s earthsea system). I wrote out my astrological birth chart with a summary. A quick summary of the focus of my craft, information about my daemon, information about other animal guides in my life, my magical signatures and my Tarot birth cards.
It was a lot to get down but I figured once it’s drafted that’s a big chunk that can be just copied straight down into the book once it arrives,.
That means I now have the chapters “Ego Ipse” & “Tempus” pretty much complete.
Not gonna lie, Totally skipped out this week cause I have a big university deadline on Monday. But wanted to put up a smol post anyways for consistency.
Seen some great ideas especially the day on beliefs that I’ll be making time for next week.
