This is going to be a bit of a long post. Over a year ago, I commissioned an artist on Facebook to make two Pokemon plush. This was in January 2015. You may be wondering, if I commissioned these last year why am I just now posting about them? That's because they just came yesterday. She ran into a few snags with them because they were her first Pokemon plush. That's understandable, I'm pretty patient. Over the next few months she offered to refund me when she shipped my plush after she finished them, but I told her no because I didn't want her to work for free, so the last payment was waived. In October, she tells me that my plush are finished, and that she had made a gift plush of my my little pony character, Sugar Fluff. I was ecstatic, it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me! I was so excited to get them. A month passed, and I asked her if she had shipped yet. She said that she was sorry but things were so hectic that she hadn't gotten a chance to yet. This continued until March. I'd ask her every couple weeks if she had shipped, because I didn't want to be a bother. She always had a reason why she hadn't shipped, usually that she was busy or hadn't had time or had forgotten...and then the replies got farther apart, I'd have to message her three times to get a response. I eventually got fed up, and posted to her business page detailing my experience and how I was tired of being ignored and I was tired of excuses. I gave her a week to mail them before I'd try to contact paypal to file a claim (the deadline for that was over but I'd heard that if you contact them they make exceptions sometimes). I didn't want a refund, but I was so sick of waiting for plush that had been finished since last year. Surely the threat of a blemish on her paypal would motivate her to send out my things, right? My post certainly got her attention. She accused me of being "out of line," threatened to just destroy the plush and refund me, and continued to act as if I was in the wrong for tarnishing her "reputation." Then she started telling me about all the problems she was dealing with in her life. After awhile, she came to her senses and agreed to mail me my things. As for the actual plush, latias is very well-made, as is the pony. Ampharos, however, had several popped or loose seams. A lot of the attachments were put on with embroidery floss. The first three pics show how he looked when I got him. The last is after two hours of reinforcing seems and repositioning the arms and feet. I love my plush, I really do, but this experience was honestly not a very pleasant one. It started out great, the artist was very responsive to messages, we talked about fabric color and patterning and everything. She kept me updated very well. But after they were finished, it was like she forgot about me. I'm not going to tell anyone not to commission Plush by Devine Delights, because she does good work and she did make things right. I just want to tell anyone working with an artist, if you feel like you're being ignored or too much time has passed between updates, send a message. Don't harass them by any means, but don't be so afraid to bother someone that you let them shove you aside. If I had been more assertive, I could have had them ages ago (not that I should have had to hound her to send plush she had already finished) but I was afraid to be one of "those" customers.
