1. Aside from Tumblr, what’s your favourite place on the interwebs?
I have to say YouTube. Honestly, I don’t know what I’d do without the YouTube community, particularly the Brits (Zoella, Tanya Burr, Jim Chapman, Louise SprinkleofGlitter, Charlie, etc.), because they do wonders for my self-esteem. One day I’ll feel good enough to not only film myself, but edit myself. Vlogging will stick! I just think it’s wonderful. Also ShayTards! :’)
2. What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
I have never been officially employed before, mainly because of health reasons, but also the side aspect that no one wants to hire me. Pants. But I did get fired from Year 10 work experience, which was equally embarrassing and hilarious! But that’s another story…
3. Is there a particular artist or album that has influenced your current music taste in a much bigger way than any other?
Newton Faulkner’s Write It on your Skin, I would say. I appreciate voice-and-a-guitar music more and more these days. It became an even deeper love when I went to see Joshua Radin live in London. One must never underestimate the power that raw music can have.
4. Who is your all-time favourite villain?
Hades from Disney’s Hercules. So sassy and loveable, though you still hate him! It’s just a love-hate relationship… Also, Bellatrix LeStrange. I WANT TO HUG HER AND STAB HER UGH.
5. Do you listen to any podcasts?
I’ve never been in to audio-only media. I think because I have a wondering mind, and I struggle to focus on things as it is. When it’s only noise, it sinks into the background far too easily to appreciate it. I think I could make an exception for Grace Helbig and Tyler Oakley's new podcasts... They tickle me!
6. What is your favourite item of clothing that you own, also why?
Ooooh, this is tough! I love my clothes. I love my green corduroy mini skirt just because it’s adorable, and I’ve now lost enough weight to fit back into it. I love my vintage flannel shirts, because there’s nothing wrong with men’s clothing on women! I LOVE my Docs. All of them. But I really love my floral ones. And I love each and every one of my home made tees.
7. Mac, Windows or Linux? Also desktop or laptop?
Windows laptop for me! Macs are only good when you’re doing serious media things – they’re not user-friendly otherwise, in my opinion. There’s no right-click, the keyboards are too sensitive (but not sensitive enough), the layout is all funny. Just not a fan for general use!
8. What is one skill you wish you had?
I wish I could sing. I know and understand music – both recreationally and technically – but I just can’t make a nice sound with my voice. It’s a constant frustration, but my brother has a theory that ANYONE can sing, as long as they do it enough. Hopefully I’ll catch up to him, and prove him right.
9. On a scale of one to ten, how much do you wish you could live in a zeppelin?
I’ve no idea/ 10. Robin, what is a zeppelin?
10. What is the first thing you remember doing on the internet/using the internet for?
A project in Year 6! It was about punishments in the medieval era. I remember looking up facts and pictures on the computer, and putting it all in to a PowerPoint presentation. It was just wonderful! So much faster than using a book and typing it up, and drawing the pictures yourself!
11. Historical figure that is most like you? Either in looks/character, whatever.
This is something I have never thought about before. I’m drawing such a blank on so many levels, that I can’t even begin to research anything to figure it out! I will get back to you on it, Robin. A very good and thought-provoking question.
