                     summer had come to a close oh so quickly, forcing the grand masses of children and teens to return to the familiar double doors and cinderblock walls. parents he could only imagine were elated, meanwhile, his own grandfather only muttered mild complaints about who would help him with the farm and the harvest. and while he didn't hate school there was a part of him that preferred the idea of remaining home and just helping his grandfather, it was much easier to avoid his fellow peers when not dropped into the lion's den filled with them. he’d seen so many over the summer break when he’d first arrived, some friendly and some utterly hostile -- but there were a few faces that stuck in his mind. 

                   she was one of them. the familiar sweep of blonde hair and the stretch of a smile that seemed sweet but somehow could easily turn bitter if it wished. crystal eyes shift to look into his locker once more before stashing away the rest of his textbooks, slowly withdrawing his gym bag. he had basketball practice to get too if there were a few good things he could hold on to -- one was definitely basketball. hands shut his locker firmly tall frame turning on his heel before smacking right into the smaller blonde, hand releasing his gym bag he can’t help but steady her. hands holding her arms for a moment before releasing her, “ sorry, you’re good right? “
