Look at these nerds. It's meant to be.
SO! Apparently the girl's name is Sunny Sugarsocks, but since there are so many sun-related names, let's just call her Sugarsocks! I think I now have some semblance of what's going on on Pinkie Pie's end in Destinyverse! At some point, Sugarsocks and her older sister (no name given yet from the show) moved to Ponyville to start their diner business together. It was a dream they had planned for years, completed with cute uniforms and neato roller skates as they took turns making the orders and serving them with warm, hospitable smiles. Naturally Pinkie had to cheerfully welcome the two sisters to Ponyville and became fast friends with them! Pinkie hit it off best with younger sister Sugarsocks, who of the two provided the homemade ice cream skills and grand sundaes to their establishment. The two shared a love for sweets, and more often than not the two mares would visit one another's workplaces to trade ingredients when one or the other became unexpectedly low for the day; eggs for sugar, or milk for flour, it was relieving to have someone to rely on during those particularly busy days. It also gave them an opportunity to have quick, friendly chats (and you can never have a boring chat with Pinkie, as Sugar came to learn). Sugarsocks ended up being the calm to Pinkie's crazy. No matter how strange or eccentric the pink earth pony got, it did nothing but entertain Sugar as she followed along. That open, easygoing air was a quality both Sugar and her sister shared, but unlike her sister, Sugarsocks herself possessed a similar dorky sense of humor with Pinkie. With how chill Sugar usually is, not many expect her whip out hidden emergency bowls of sundaes out of nowhere like it's an everyday occurrence, or let out sudden, enthusiastic woots over the smallest things. But Sugar didn't mind coming off as odd. If anything, time with Pinkie helped her express that side of her more, even if it had her sister playfully rolling her eyes at them half the time. Pinkie eventually left Sugarcube Corner - as much as she adored the place, she knew she'd eventually move on to her own personal endeavors. With her confectionary skills, Pinkie and the sisters worked out a joint business plan, consisting of Pinkie adding her most popular and unique pastry recipes to their menu while helping their diner provide a catering service (her usual, for parties naturally~). In the meantime, Sugarsocks' ice cream and her sister's special dishes would also be options in the catering. And well, it just worked out. Playful gestures became downright sneaky flirting. Not-so-sneaky flirting led to sugary kisses. Now the three are running their business successfully and living happy lives. Pinkie and Sugarsocks aren't really planning on having or taking in kids, but the closest thing they have to one is little Caramello from the Cake family, who Pinkie happily smothers and spoils every chance she gets. While she's a designated godmother, Pinkie likes to think of herself as one cool aunt~
