First things first, I didn't know you lived in Mexico. When I saw your tags, I thought, 'ugh, it's another person that is comparing their first world problems to a goverment run by drugdealers, kidnapped students and racism and using that childish gif as a way to 'lighten up'.'It came acoss as bratty to me, because I don't know you, this was my first thought because so many other people on tumblr do this and you can get that people saying, 'a black person/Mexican called me cracker/gringo once,
Okay, look, I get you were not rude with this message or your comment on that post to but you’re also doing a big effort to justify yourself so:
1. Looking at my blog before making that comment (where it says I’m Mexican right in my about page) wasn’t really that hard. Or, you know, my icon??
2. Looking at YOUR blog I can see this subject is very important and personal to you so I understand how the misunderstanding would have bothered you.
3. It’s not right attacking people’s personal posts for dealing with things different than you would. Especially when, as we have stated, YOU DON’T KNOW THEM. And this is a very big problem with Tumblr, right up there with privileged people complained about being called cracker or gringo (which by the way doesn’t only apply to white Americans).
4. Don’t assume everyone you meet online is: a) White b) American c) Living in a first world country d) Bad intentioned/Ignorant. This is the product of an Imperialized way of thinking, in which people from first world countries see themselves as the default, when in reality they are greatly outnumbered by other races and cultures. This makes no sense considering how big the world is and reflects a small minded mentality.
5. I’m gonna say this again: Do not come at people because of their personal posts when you know nothing about them (unless they are being deliberately cruel, racist, homophobic, etc. Then, I get it.)
So, it’s okay. I’m no longer angry and I UNDERSTAND your point because I took the time to consider your point of view in the situation. I only ask you do the same next time you feel the need to patronize someone over a vague (personal) tag.
